WinTel to become LinTel ?

http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/190/1050190/intel-lures-alan-cox-away-from-red-hat

MS makes a bigger profit than its partner, Intel. Does Intel see a new
business model? Would Intel be better off with a 'partner' that gets
zero profits from each computer sale?

bug against the package, though, unless it's something that really does

Thanks for the help.  Postfix is up and running and forwarding emails correctly (I think)!

I need to get my DNS MX record working correctly but hopefully this will fix my overall problem.  For better or worse, (more) things are in my own hands now which I like.  Go Linux!

Evolution + Exchange question

Hey everyone,

I use Ubuntu 8.10 (64bit) at work and need to connect Evolution to the Exchange email server.  I've got exchange setup and it works (fairly well) with our exchange server.  Also working is the auto-lookup of users in the active directory so I don't have to add every person to my address book manually.

I'm not very impressed with the built-in email search function in Evolution.  What I'd like to do is let google-desktop index my email so I can simply hit <ctrl> twice and get the google-desktop search on my screen and can search all documents and emails.  However, I can't seem to get evolution to sync my exchange email to my local computer.

I've right-clicked on the email folders and told them to synchronize locally as well as tell Evolution (during the initial configuration) to synchronize all mail to my local hard drive, but it doesn't seem to be doing it.

Is there anything I need to do/know to get this to work?

Thanks,

Robert

Re: I'm done with firefox

Might want to try Google Chrome. I use both it and Firefox 3 on Windows,
and Firefox on Linux. Chrome for Linux is coming. It has some nice
features, and a few shortcomings. But there are still a lot of add-ons I
like that are as yet available only for Firefox and are alone enough to
use it.

Some promising gadgets

The Google/Android G1. I have been using one for some time and am very pleased. But still use my T-Mobile Wing for GPS navigation because the Garmin software installed on it has more features.

The nirvana phone. See www.nirvanaphone.com

The Wibrain

The OQO

HTC phone that does video out:

I've been finding that Facebook causes FF instability
on both Linux and Windows, although I have not tried
to prove that definitively. I'm also considering
switching back to FF2, out of frustration.

I like my G1 except for the battery usage. Also, the apps in the Market are a
bit immature in places, but there are some gems to be found. I just found Shazam
last night, similar to the same app for the iPhone - you hear a song you like,
so you start Shazam and let it record a portion of the song and analyze it. If
it recognizes the song, you can either find it on Amazon or see if there's a
YouTube video of it. It's good for current songs, maybe popular old songs.
Pretty neat!

I did have an issue with the camera and had to get the original phone replaced.
It was like pulling teeth to get T-Mobile to replace the phone (hint: 14
calendar days is actually 15 days in their policies!), but the new one is
working just fine so far.

Good stuff!

Re: I'm done with firefox

I read some bad stuff about facebook. It got some major missuses right now. Or should I say major security issues. I am not sure what they are but I read the blurb on ZDnet. In my opinion they are bias on the side of microsucs, but hey everyone has missuses!! :o)
