Same thing for all my friends in Austin from the
"Arm Pit of the World" - Houston.

Let all of us hope the economy recovers and we can all find wealth,
happiness.

If any folks new to linux are interested, there is a new module at
www.linuxsurvival.com

This new module shows you how to manipulate directory trees and
running programs, display disk information, redirect output to
other commands,and search for patterns.

Enjoy & Happy New Year!

USB CDRW and kkernel 2.6

I upgraded to a 2.6 kernel. When I plug in my usb cdrw and do cdrecord
-scanbus it doesn't find it. I still have the 2.4 in the grub.conf and
can boot to it when I want to burn cds, but has anyone gotten it to work
and if so, what's the trick?

Re: USB CDRW and kkernel 2.6

Only thing I've heard about it is that ide-scsi is deprecated in 2.6. That
must mean one would need to do some things differently...

Re: [Fwd: [Blt-support] For the newbies]

you might want to go to www.basiclinux.net and sign up for the FREE
online class that is starting soon.

If you do irc, go to irc.freenode.net and join the #blt channel

After playing with a 2.6 kernel and finding that the modules are .lo and
not .o depmode/modprobe needed to be upgraded. Before doing this find
your backup disk.

New SuSE gives you modprobe and modprobe.old along with all the other parts.

Correction: .ko

The tools you need are module-init-tools by Rusty Russel. They are
available from
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/rusty/modules

Damn! 01/01/2004 and I have already made a mistake. Correct Carl!
Well I guess the good news is that I now can make mistakes without worrying.
