mounting the CD rom drive

Hello everyone,

I know this is a trivial question to most of you, but how do you mount the
CDrom?

 What is the mount command?

thanks,
Duane

I opened the config file and set the gui to yes, and ran it and this was
my result;

# /usr/bin/mplayer
Using GNU internationalization

Current domain: mplayer

Re: DNS (?) Problems/Challenges

Honestly, I think you're out of luck. RR's DNS servers have always sucked
and it looks like they always will. :-(

Re: mounting the CD rom drive

mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdX /mnt/cdrom

where X is the IDE drive the CD is. It should look like this:

IDE0 master - hda
IDE0 slave - hdb
IDE1 master - hdc
IDE1 slave - hdd

Or you can add this line to /etc/fstab:

/dev/hdX /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,owner,ro 0 0

Read the man page for mount for syntax of this file.

RE: DNS (?) Problems/Challenges

I don't believe in the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus but I do believe that
my Internet provider should provide the same services as others do. I
know that I'm preaching to the choir when I say that DNS services are
some of the most basic but at the same time most essential services that
all Internet providers should provide without any fanfare.

Crippled services which say that someone can look at all the Web sites
in the world except these few, is like saying "I'm glad you like your
new car. Oh, BTW, you can drive it anywhere except in Buda and Kyle".

Call me gullible but that's what I expect. How do I get what is
rightfully owed?

For those who don't know the MPlayer documentation has a special sesion on
Joe Barr:
+++++++++++quoted section follows. cut here with a chain saw++++++++++++
E.4 Joe Barr

Joe Barr became infamous by writing a less than favorable MPlayer
review. He found MPlayer hard to install, but then again he is not
very fond of reading documentation. He also concluded that the
developers were unfriendly and the documentation incomplete and
insulting. You be the judge. He went on to mention MPlayer negatively
in his 10 Linux predictions for 2002 In a followup review of xine he
continued stirring up controversy. Ironically at the end of that
article he quotes his exchange with Günter Bartsch, the original
author of xine, that perfectly summarizes the whole situation:

However, he also went on to say that he was "surprised" by my column

Re: Mplayer

Oh, I got the joke. I missed that Joe made the joke, and had forgotten
that little bit. I also thought it would be especially funny if D'arpi
got newbie emails now that he has quit because he is tired of spending
so much time on mplayer. But I neglected to frame my response in the
form of a decent joke mainly due to lack of inspiration and business...
