We're back!

Well, that was fun.  After all the problems with heat, memory, and network
cards - one of the HDDs died.  It's under warranty, but that doesn't help
us any.  Oh well.  So, I took the money we had collected and spent it on a
new NIC and a 30GB HDD.  I also completely reinstalled the software on the
server, making it much more stable and less prone to attacks.  Besides,
SuSE 7.2 has a nice update utility for fixing those nasty security holes
easily.  So, after much ado we are back on-line.

We are now using ezmlm as our mailing list manager.  Mailman was a pain in
many respects - part of the HDD crash was it's thrashing every min to send
mail and such.  Also, mailman was not dealing with bounces at all.  So, I
figure if ezmlm is good enough for bugtraq - it's good enough for us.
It's not completely set up right now.  There is still a web front-end I'm
working on and a few other things.  Most important is that we have a list
now, rather than later.  Also, posting is NOT limited to just subscribers
at this time.  That will be turned back on mainly for the anti-spam
feature as soon as I get it working.  But, in the mean time all is well.

For more information on how ezmlm works, send a message to
alg-info@... - you will get back all the commands.  Let me know
if you have any problems.

Only 3 people are participating in the keysigning party.

Only three people are signed up to participate in the gpg/pgp
keysigning party. In order to participate in the party you must
send my your public key to me pelliott@... I wanted to send a message
about this earlier but the list was down. The deadline for submitting
your public key is extended till noon today.

If you send in your key, you should bring your public key fingerprint
and indentification to the party.

There follows the orignal instructions for participateing in the party:

To signup, sendme (pelliott@...) your key before NOON Wednesday.

Below is the original keysigning party announcement.

The ALG key signing party will take place on Thursday July 26 2001.

In order to participate in the party, please take the following
steps:

(A) if you have not done so already, generate a GPG/PGP key for yourself.
    The precise command for this varies with your version of GPG/PGP.
    Consult the documentation for your version.

(B) email your public key to me by noon the day  the party July 26.
    Please indicate in your subject line the nature of the message.
    For example, Subject: KEY FOR KEY-SIGNING PARTY.
    If you use more that one key you can submit more than one, but
    be reasonable.

Meeting Tonight

Aside from the keysigning tonight, we need much more input on ITEC.  We
have gotten together a pretty good 2 days worth of stuff already, but
need more.

Anybody doing a presentation or panel discussion needs to have a bio and
a short description of your talk.  The quicker we get this stuff in the
quicker we look like the owners of ITEC.
