Meeting this week!

Hey guys,

Due to the new visitor rules at Peak10 (photographing IDs, mugshots, etc.),
we've decided to change the location of the meeting. The May meeting (this
week, Wednesday, May 15) will be at our new location. The new location has
been generously offered to us by Enterprise Integration, they have a
good-sized classroom that we believe will be a much better fit for our
group. If it doesn't work out like we hope this month, we will switch back
to Peak10 next month, but we're hoping for the best.

Enterprise Integration is just 3 miles down the street from Peak10, and
even closer to Sheraton where we hold the after-meeting social meetup. The
address is:

Enterprise Integration
7601 Centurion Parkway
Jacksonville, FL 32256

This month's presentation will be from the awesome Robert Nunley, who will
be giving an introduction to network forensics!

We're really looking forward to the new location and the awesome
presentation! See you Wednesday!

Proxy redirect to different server

Alright, I'm not entirely sure what the best way to word this is, but I'm
going to take a stab at it...

What I'm trying to find out is how to set up a Linux server to act as a
proxy / redirect machine for a specific server.

Here's the scenario: We have a remote site (192.168.100.0) connected to our
local network (192.168.1.0) through OpenVPN. At that site, we have a server
(192.168.100.10). Locally, we can connect and communicate with this server
with no problems. Thing is, that remote site doesn't have a static public
IP address. Our thoughts: use one of the static IPs available to us locally
and forward traffic to the remote server, thus allowing outside access.
Problem is, while OpenVPN will forward the internet traffic to that server
just fine, that remote server is trying to send it's reply to the public
address that made the request (and not through the VPN tunnel).

My thought was to set up a server on our local network that would do
nothing but act as a proxy for the remote server. The public address will
forward to this proxy and all traffic will route to the remote server,
appearing to originate from the local network. The remote server will reply
as it should and the proxy will feed the information back to the requesting
public address.

A crude diagram of what I'm trying to accomplish:
(internet)---[Local network]---[proxy/redirect]---{VPN}---[remote server]

I can not find any how-tos or tutorials explaining how to do what I want. I
found numerous proxy tutorials as well as tutorials on how to redirect
traffic, but nothing combining the two into one convenient server.

Linux Laptops

I am in the market for a new work laptop. I recently purchased a
Lenovo W520 for personal use, and would have loved to get an identical
one for work, but Lenovo have stopped making them. A pity, as it's an
awesome machine (i7, 1080p, 8GB RAM, 500GB HDD, etc., and Debian rocks
on it) and I got it for a great price...

Does anyone here have any experience with Lenovo Y-series and Debian?
They seem to offer a lot of bang for the buck. While I would prefer
a W or T series, the Y series seems to have most of what I want -
though the lack of an optical drive is unfortunate...

Any other recommendations? (I do have a soft spot for Lenovo laptops...)

Regards,
Ozz.

Re: JaxLug Road Trip

It depends on how many people we get going. But the basics per person
would be:

$40 class
$20 gas
$110 room
*$80 food*
$250

Around there.

JaxLug Road Trip

The ISSA Kentucky Chapter is having a web pen-testing training class on May
18th.

The class is taught by Jeremy Druin, who is the lead on the
Mutillidae<http://www.irongeek.com/i.php?page=mutillidae/mutillidae-deliberately-vulnerable-php-owasp-top-10>project.
I've worked with him on web hacking challenges before and he's
insanely good.

http://issa-kentuckiana.org/?page_id=143

This type of class at BlackHat would easily cost over $1000.00. However,
they are offering it for a $40 donation to Hackers For
Charity<http://www.hackersforcharity.org/>
.

If you're interested in going please let me know. We leave on May 17th.
Drive up there. Go to the class. Then coming back on Sunday. The
distance sucks but we'll make it entertaining.

Can't unsubscribe

Sorry for the blast to all, but I've moved out of the area and have been trying to unsubscribe from the list.
I've sent emails to the address list-unsubscribe@...;
however, they keep bouncing back as undeliverable.

So, how do I unsubscribe?

Thanks,

Mike
