I had a similar experience recently. I finally looked in my S P A M
folder to find about 1 1/2 weeks worth of emails that had been filtered
there instead of the normal folders that they go to. 99.9% of them were
valid emails that should have been filtered to other folders, and the
emails were in my addressbook. all of the real spam there still had the
usual "***" followed by the word S P A M followed by the "***" in the
start of the subject line

I had to go through and highlight them all and uncheck the little flame
( thunderbird s p a m icon) to make it NOT S P A M ..

once I did that all messages started flowing correctly again. I have no
clue what set it off.

Wireless Broadband

Hey all,

I am looking to get a wireless broadband card / service for my laptop, but wanted to know how the linux support
was. Does anyone have any advice on hardware, or on service providers?

I don't know much about wireless broadband, so feel free to throw your $.02 in.

Re: Wireless Broadband

I have the usb card for Verizon. It "Just Works" (tm) with Fedora 9. All I had to do was enter the phone number of the account and it connects readily.

Now if only the Verizon service was reliable....

I have also used the older pcmcia card and it to worked quite well. I changed only because of a promised faster connection. I don't see a difference.

I'm selling my iPaq 4150 PDA. I thought the list might be interested
since this model is supported by the Familiar and Angstrom linux

OpenMoko.

Re: Wireless Broadband

Along with that, anyone know of a mini-pci wan card that would work with verizon / Sprint?  How about AT&T?  Maybe the internal antenna wouldn't work well even if a card existed.

Anyone used mini-pci or USB devices with the UMPCs (EEE, Acer Aspire One, etc)?

9",2lb UMPC + WWAN + Linux would be nirvana. :)

Thanks,
Brian

does ALE North West still exist?

Hello fellow geeks,

I always see updates for ALE Central and and occasionally North East. I
was interested in possibly attending the NW meetings, but there seems to
be little information in regards to upcoming meetings and past meetings
in comparison with the Central meetings.

Thanks,
Joey

Re: does ALE North West still exist?

Not really.

Gerald Sheets ran it and the meetings were at The Weather Channel. He
suspended the meetings due to construction there and some months back
had posted that he'd soon be restarting them. However, last week or the
week before I noticed he sent a post quitting the list and also
mentioned that he was no longer at TWC.

I'd love to see Ale NW start up again if someone had the facilities to
support it. Unfortunately my company doesn't own this building and the
folks that do pretty much shut down services and lock the doors after
business hours so there didn't seem to be much point in asking to do it
here.
