Re[2]: [WISPA] Back to the hurricaine......A time to focus

Hello Mark,

Excellent post Mark, I think a database should be put together that
can list what is available and what people can bring into a situation
like this.

For example-

2 installers plus bucket truck (30 foot height)

Tower climber w/ safety equipment- up to 200 foot structure

2.4ghz 24db grid antennas
Breezecom radios AP10/WB10 pair

Gas Generator model xyz

etc etc.

I got thinking about what we could do here in Mid-Michigan, and as
long as the right structures are standing I could go 100 plus miles
with some decent bandwidth.

I think the idea to setup VOIP outside the damaged areas to help
people get communications to the outside world would be extremely
important. Something that FEMA and other agencies will not be putting
high on the list at this stage since rescue is still in place.

Yikes guys!

Let me know if there's something I can do. I'm not ready to ship gear that
you may or may not need, nor am I ready to send money that'll go places I
may not want it to go. Send me something specific and I'll see what I can
come up with.

Good luck and God speed.

[WISPA] Re: [equipment-l] Katrina - HELP

Its a pretty bad situation all the way around. I am gonna keep this
short and to the point - - All the local Churches in the area have
taken on the job of providing these evacuees with food, water, shelter
(to complete occupancy) medicine, health care....etc and are also
feeding all the evacuees who are hungry and/or in need at the
hotels/motels. I slipped in to one of the local hotels here in Rayville
and these are the scenes that I saw first hand :

  http://65.82.69.13/photo/explorer.php?folder=Evacuees/

It looks like a family reunion, but remember this is 250 miles North of
NOLA. It is a free hamburger meal at the hotel put on by a local bank
and a Church. This was what we call "supper" and is the evening meal.
There was Dinner (lunch for you Yanks) and Breakfast (surely thats the
same) put on bu other local Churches. These meals will go on for as long
(months?) as needed.

Jim Patient was the first to send email yesterday and ask if I knew
anyone who needed $$$ as there is usually a farm full of people here
fleeing different hurricanes across the deep Souths coasts - - I have no
one on my place, but the need is over whelming everywhere - - - so
anyone who has the means and wants to help you can send money to:

 mdearman <at> emaxcess.com (paypal)

I will donate every cent to different Churches that are feeding all
these people and will do it with the name of the list that donates the
money - - be it WISPA, Judds list etc....... make your designation and
I will see to it that there is an acknowledgment to the list daddy who

Re: [WISPA] Back to the hurricaine......A time to focus

Sorry I did not post a reply until now. I just got the opportunity to sit in front of a PC. I want to thank you'll
for all the E-Mails I got of support. I really needed that. Its extremly hard to sit down an even just type
something about this Hurricane. It has been a nightmare to say the least for all of us on the Gulf Coast. All
of my family is alive and I am so thankfull for that. The mental effects that this has on one is unimaginable.
At first I thought it was just me but everyone I talk to just begins to break down when they realize the
reality of what is going on. I am determined to get past this and find the strength to be back in action as soon
as I can get back home. They are talking maybe three months to even drive into New Orleans. I am at my Wifes
cousins house and Shrevport and just wish all of the other people were as fortunate as I to have a roof over
there head. Thanks f
or the offers of help!! Its the things such as that, that help us keep strong! Joe Laura

RE: [WISPA] Back to the hurricane......A time to focus

Joe,

Its great to hear you and your family are out of harm's way safely. You
have been in my prayers and thoughts since before the Hurricane hit. I
can't and won't pretend to imagine how devastating this storm has been to
your community, business, home and friends. WISPA is committed to assist
you in any way we can. We are in the process of setting up a donation fund
to help you get your business back on it's feet once you get to move home.

You pretty well tell it like it is in this article.

I quote: "One of the neat things about the WISP business is that even our
competitors are willing to help with problems,'' said Mr. Laura. "Everyone
helps each other and has to work together........"

I hope to have a paypal account set up by the end of the day in which we can
start collecting donations. Everyone helps each other here!

Let us all know how you are doing from time to time and if you need anything
just ask! I'm sure someone will step up to the plate and help.

God be with you!
