Since when an IPv6 prefix has been announced?

Hello list!

Just a simple question.
Does anyone know how could I know when an IPv6 prefix has been announced for the first time?
For example, since when the following prefix "2001:428:4802:200::/56" has been announced?

Thanks a lot!
Rafa.

You could grep the routeviews archives...

Or the somewhat larger RIPE Routing Information Service:

http://www.ripe.net/data-tools/stats/ris/routing-information-service

or PCH Routing Topology Archive:

http://pch.net/resources/data/routing-tables/archive/
http://pch.net/resources/data/routing-tables/mrt-bgp-updates/

                                -Bill

However, I don't think a /56 is visible, most of the people will filter it

Is this part of a PA ?

Re: Since when an IPv6 prefix has been announced?

Hello again list.

Ok, "/58" prefix isn't the best example... :)
Let's take "/32" or "/48" prefixes...

I need to develop a script that takes one prefix and returns since when it's been announced
or even better... when was it assigned...

Thanks again!

Sixxs has tool that shows when a block was allocated
and first announced -- http://www.sixxs.net/tools/grh/dfp/
You can search by RIR or search all allocations at the following --
http://www.sixxs.net/tools/grh/dfp/all/ (note that this query
takes awhile).

RIPE's RIS project keeps track of such - http://ris.ripe.net, and then

http://www.ris.ripe.net/mt/prefixdashboard.html?prefix=2001%3A428%3A4802%3A200%3A%3A%2F56

... which says "it has not been seen at RIS in the last 3 months".

My own data says "this prefix has never been seen in the global IPv6 table"
(it might have been visible locally with "no-export").

As you don't have the data, you need to check one of the services named
to you.

> or even better... when was it assigned...

That's a fully different question - for *that* question, just query the
relevant whois database. To find the right database is left as an
excercise to the reader, starting with

http://www.iana.org/assignments/ipv6-unicast-address-assignments/ipv6-unicast-address-assignments.xml
