ZaCon III on 7 and 8 October

Hello list,

This is a reminder mail about ZaCon III, which is taking place on 7 and
8 October in Johannesburg. For the uninitiated, ZaCon is a local
community infosec conference.

The list of speakers is available at http://zacon.org.za, and past
events (with slides and vids) are linked from there too.

The Friday evening (7/10) is a social event with two talks, while
Saturday (8/10) is a full day of single-track talks. Saturday's venue is
the University of Joburg, while Friday's venue is still TBA.

If you can make it, please drop a mail to rsvp@... with the
days you'll be present. We're lining to keep the event free and
sponsorship-free, as in years gone by.

See you there!

Everyone's "favourite" tld

So, .co.za.

Have the gods decided yet to gift us with a list of requirements that
domains would have to have to pass validation? What about some sort of
testing platform that a domain update could be sent to and validated, if
you wanted a response within 10~30min?

Dealing with this antiquated system is tiresome. Tiresome, and
time-wasting. My one ops techie has now had to submit a domain update at
least 6 times, 2 times of these it failed for a valid reason (there was
an issue with one of our DNS servers). The other 4 failures were things
that you only get to find out when the error returns. This being
something that you sometimes only get to find out about up to 24 hours
later.

Come on, guys. Do you really want to be the cctld that's hated? Surely
it can't be that hard to help everyone out. You'll save yourself a whole
bunch of support effort too. Doing something like this wouldn't even
require you to update your system that you feel so overprotective about.

Regards
JP

Child Protect

Hi!

TrustFabric Child Protect helps protect children from inappropriate content
such as adult SMS services. The new service lets parents associate a date of
birth with the mobile phone number and email address of their child.

If you run any services which could use this, or have any clients which
should please point them at:
