Printer Error?

Hi Wolfgang

I have downloaded and installed the October build of WDSibyl.

On starting I get an Error message - twice. The Error message says:-

Error initializing printer object.

Invalid printer index -1. Only 2 printers available.

Printing functions not available.

A slighly confusing error as it seems to complain that there are only 2 printers
available so it will not use either of them. Guess that is caused by whatever
WDSibyl is doing to try and identify my printers as the printer index value
returned is obviously wrong.

Neither printer is connected directly to this PC - both are network printers
with local objects.

Another problem I am running into is that while English seems to be the default
language, which is good for me, there are lots of dialogs that are in German
rather than English which limits my ability to use WDSibyl as, I am sorry to
admit, I am not very good at learning other languages :-(

Despite the above problems I can see that WDSibyl is progressing and hope that
you will continue development.

Regards

I have test the printerfunction with 3 Printers and it works fine, but I
have no network printer, so I cannot test it. On which printerfunction
do you the error

I am not trying to print anything.

WDSibyl produces these error messages when I start WDSibyl - click the program
icon and they appear.

It seems that WDSibyl is checking for printers on starting and then producing
that error (2 times).

Much, much better than my German - my only German phrase is "Spreken zie
English?" ;-)

and so I'm looking that WDSibyl are running

WDSibyl load by the start the Unit Printers.pas, and so It create the
Printer-Object.
I have the Problem to correct this Problem. I have 3 Printers local
installed and WDSibyl start correct, but I have no Network.
Is this Problem too, when you generate a GUI-Program (a empty Form) and
start this Program? (Because WDSibyl is generated in WDSibyl).
When yes, than start the Program with F7 and debug the Program to the
error.
When no, than give the componentes "tPrintDialog" and
"tPrintSetupDialog" on the Form. Then Start the Program.

Karl

Re: Re: Printer Error?

Hallo!

An Karl:
Danke fuer die Übersetzung

To Peter Brown:

I think too, that we need on OS/2 a RAD-Tool and pascal is a easy language.

--------------

A E-Mail from Udo. He has send me today:

Hallo,
I've connected an "Canon S750" with an ethernet-cable
(Parallel-Ethernet-Converter) to an 100 MB-Switch and have no problems
starting WDSibyl...

Translation

Hi Wolfgang

I posted previously that I too am in need of translators and have been asking
around.

It was suggested to me that it would be a good idea to join
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Dev_Corner/

It could be a useful source of resources - other developers need their software
translated as well so must know people who could be willing to help.

WDSibyl (7.12.05)

---
FFunction...
IInsertFileListBox...
BBegin
  RResult.Create(parent);
  RResult.SetWindowPos(Left,Bottom,Width,Height);
  RResult.parent := parent;
EEnd;
---
Sowas trat früher nie auf...
