WDSibyl fails to run

Hi Wolfgang

I've just installed WDSibyl V3.05 from the WDSibyl_Compiler_20070401.zip package

I edited the sibyl.ini file to point to my Projects directory and also to change
the last project to point to an existing project.

I then started WDSibyl, made some minor changes to the existing project, saved
and compiled it, and all seemed to be working fine.

I decided to start a New Project and clicked the menu bar Project, New and
completed required entries. WDSibyl then tried to switch to the new project but
displayed an error message:-

Critical error

TList error exception (ElistError) occured at $00023FAF !
Terminate program ?

I clicked OK to Terminate WDSibyl and then tried to restart WDSibyl. This
produced the same message as above but clicking on OK produced an extra message:-

Exception occured

Exception occured: TList error exception (ElistError) occured at $00075878
Program is terminated

As this was meant to be a New Project and I have not had any chance to use code
to create the above error myself is this an error in WDSibyl?

Changing bitmap colours

Hi All

Can anyone show me how to change the colour of a bitmap using code?

The bitmaps that I currently want to change are those used with the
TTabbedNotebook; wdsibyl\bmp\compnt\edgetop.bmp and edgetopp.bmp.

Those bmp files need to be changed to the current colour used for the Notebook
Page Background.

Why?

Because Sibyl applications look very silly if a user has a non-default colour
scheme on their Desktop. If they have set the Notebook Page Backgound to a
colour other than grey then the above bitmaps need to be changed to match.

I guess I would use WinQuerySysColor to find the value of SYSCLR_BACKGROUND. How
would I then change the colour of the bitmaps to the value of SYSCLR_BACKGROUND ?

I suspect the answer would also apply to other bitmap situations ie when using
Glyphs on Buttons.

Regards

Pete

Sibyl and USB

Hello!

I've started to work on a small program to support the USB Wireless Security Key
on OS/2 and eCS.

It's a small USB-Key like device with a key fob (Wireless connection range
~2-3m). If you leave your computer it will be automatically locked if the key
fob is no longer found by the USB-Key. If you get back it will be automatically
unlocked again. If you remove the USB Device the computer will also get locked.

It will be basically a port of the USB Wireless Security sourceforge project
from C# to Sibyl: http://usbwisec.sourceforge.net/

So far I can't tell you if it will work (the USB Resource Manager doesn't see
the USB-Device; but I know the USB-IDs).
I also have plenty of other work (Java Movie Database, individual project and
final year project at the university) and as I haven't used Pascal/Delphi for a
long time I need get into it again, so it will take some time. Currently I need
to know how I can define my own exceptions and how to add event handling.

Still I've already ported the basic classes for the key fob (messages,...) to a
Sibyl Unit, but it doesn't compile yet as some things are not yet ready
(Exception-Handling for example).

As there are no examples on the USB stuff I've sent a mail to Markus Montkowski
(usbguy <at> ...) who developed the USB Resource Manager that's shipped with eCS and
which is also written using Sibyl. I hope he'll read the mail and open the
source (-> Netlabs SVN would be great).

What would also be nice to have is an integration into eCenter/xCenter.

Other languages

Hi,
I hear good things about WDSibyl and wanted to try it out.
But it seems only to be German...
Anywhere to find English sources?
Or any translations ongoing?

Is the movement of the installer correct?

Hello. I am WDSibyl user in the sphere of DBCS (Japan).

It hangs in the vicinity for three minutes though it moves from the
history tab to the tab of install while installing it, and it doesn't
react to the mouse etc. besides at all though I am WDSibyl user in
the sphere of DBCS.

Will this be usual operation though the installation ends normally?

How though doubted that the installer malfunctions
because there is '\' in the second byte of the character of DBCS
when searching for the directory?
