VDQ : FM from Pine/Alpine?

Somewhere in that great long 'mergery' thread series, here or on c.m.p, is
an example I can clone to re-enable handling Fastmail from Pine; that
would spare me re-studying the whole topic. I can find it that way if need
be.

There was also a nice short thread on c.m.p just the other day that may
work.

IOW, I'll manage. But if anyone here happens to have something
better handy -- like such an example in a FAQ or on a web page that you
don't have to make any effort to look up -- it sure would be nice to have.

VDQ : googlesyndication.com

I have http://www.ii.com/internet/messaging/imap/isps/ open on Firefox,
and have told the noscript extension to allow ii.com.

Now it says scripts are partially allowed, and when I click on options, it
shows googlesyndication.com as not allowed. What is that site? What does
it do?

If/when I want to google something, I'll do it on a google tab, probably
on a different browser; if googlesyndication is one of those little
nasties that searches all of the web when what you're trying to do is
search the site itself, good riddance.

The site googlesyndication.com doesn't seem to tell me what allowing it on
another site will do.

Referrer (for fastmail)?

I know you have to use the right form of the right name to give Nancy
credit for putting you onto Fastmail, but I can't remember what it is nor
where to find it.

I'm trying to get back onto Fastmail after having given a cerdit card
mix-up time to settle down, and maybe I can at least get the referral
right at the same time ...

OT? Fastmail problem

Dunno where else to ask. I forwarded three or four emails
to my fastmail account, because I've found that a convenient way
to look at attached pix; logged into it; and it says there are no
messages in my inbox! Refresh does nothing. What can have
happened??

Mulberry

I installed it under XP. What am I supposed to learn from
it?

Btw, my computer glasses are off having the lenses
replaced; it debilitates my vision of the monitor far more than
I expected, regardless whether I try to look with my regular
glasses or with none. I'll have to get them back, to use till the
new lenses come. Meanwhile, that may have something to do with my
failure to see what's interesting in Mulberry -- I don't see
much, period ... :-(

First, please create a new thread for each new topic so it is
easy to track the various issues we're discussing!

Here's what I recommend for configuring Pine:

  Normal Users:
Use MSC without the hidden config

  Power Users:
Use MSC with the hidden config

Super Power Users who are using a remote config:
Use MSC with the hidden config

Super Power Users who are *not* using a remote config:
Use a text editor directly on the pinerc file(s)
IMPORTANT: This is not possible if you are using a remote
config

I'm very aware of the problems with my large Power Pine (and
other) pages and I've spent the last few years researching and
trying to decide on a content management system (CMS) that I can
use to make it more manageable. My current thought is that I'm
going to use Drupal, which I've written about here:

   <http://deflexion.com/2006/07/drupal>

But, I'm still making up my mind. Any suggestions for a good
content management system for my sites are very welcome!

In the meantime, the only suggestion I have is to print the
sections of my pages that you are using and do things the old
fashioned way -- i.e. with highlighting, sticky notes, physical
cut & paste, etc.

Thank you for your patience with my overwhelming sites!
Nancy

This sounds like a bug, probably with the IMAP server, but
possibly with Pine. I recommend that you post about this in the
pine-info list and make sure that you specify:

  * what IMAP server - Lserv uses Dovecot IMAP (I think),
FastMail uses Cyrus IMAP

  * what are the exact steps to reproduce the bug

Stomping out this bug should be useful to both Pine and the
Dovecot IMAP (or whatever IMAP) team!

Thank you,
Nancy

I added two or three more incoming folders today, since the ones
from yesterday are working fine. (I hadn't made archiving
foldedrs for them yet.) Suddenly, the tab at the bottom of my
INBOX gave me this :

[Message 407 UID 3488 greater than last 3487]

I have no idea what it's talking about. I removed one new folder,
and things seemed to work, for a while. Now I get another such
message, with different numbers. But this time, that doesn't stop
it.

I now have five incoming folders, all of them being archived --
plus the INBOX.

The first time the archiving function put a bunch of messages
into an archiving folder, they were all at the bottom, making the
