ARIN XXVI: All We are Missing is You!

The ARIN XXVI Public Policy and Members Meeting is next week in Atlanta, 
featuring a wide variety of presentations and important policy 
discussion. If you want a sneak preview, all handouts for ARIN XXVI are 
now available for download at:

Can’t attend the meeting in person? No problem! ARIN XXVI also offers 
many remote participation features. The entire ARIN XXVI Meeting, 
including the premeeting activities, will be webcast. ARIN offers 
additional remote participation options, including a live transcript and 
chat rooms.

The live transcript will record all presentations and discussions from 
the meeting floor, so you can read along to enhance your meeting 
viewing. There will also be a variety of chat room options available to 
registered remote participants. Remote registration is free and all 
remote registrants will be listed on the ARIN website as online

Last Call for Votes NRO NC Election

Polls are open for the election to fill the open seat on the Number 
Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) from the ARIN region. The 
polls will close at 5:00 PM ET, 6 October. The following candidates have 
agreed to run for a three-year term, beginning 1 January 2011, on the 
Number Resource Organization Number Council:

• Andrew Dul, Cascadeo

• Jason Schiller, uunet/Verizon

Brief candidate biographies and a link to submit or view statements of 
support are posted on ARIN's website at 
https://www.arin.net/app/election/. Candidate speeches will be at 1:15 
PM ET on 6 October, and may be viewed at 
https://www.arin.net/ARIN-XXVI/remote.html.

You must be either the designated member representative (DMR) from a 
General Member in good standing, or an ARIN XXVI or NANOG 50 attendee 
that registered by 21 September to vote. Voting details have been sent 
to eligible voters. To vote, visit ARIN Election Headquarters at 
https://www.arin.net/app/election/ and click on the 'Vote Now' button.

Voters must cast and confirm their ballots by 5:00 PM ET, 6 October. The 
winner will be announced on the morning of 7 October, during the ARIN 
XXVI Public Policy Meeting.

ARIN XXVI Now Underway

The premeeting events for the ARIN XXVI Public Policy and Members 
Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia have begun. For those who are unable to be 
in Atlanta, ARIN is offering a webcast and live transcript of the Open 
Policy Hour. The OPH broadcast will run from 6:00 to 7:00 PM ET. 
Registered remote participants can join in the action by submitting 
comments and questions in the on-record chat room. For details about how 
to connect to the webcast, chat, and live transcript, or to refer to the 
Remote Participation Acceptable Use Policy, please see

ARIN Board and Advisory Council Online Voting Begins Today

The polls are now open for the election to fill two (2) seats on the 
ARIN Board of Trustees and five (5) seats on ARIN Advisory Council. The 
polls will close at 3:00 PM EDT on 16 October.

You must be the designated member representative (DMR) from a General 
Member in good standing to vote. As stated in previous announcements, 
the deadline for establishing voter eligibility was 21 September 2010.

Brief candidate biographies, a link to submit or view statements of 
Support, and the voting "booth" itself can be found through ARIN 
Election Headquarters at:

https://www.arin.net/app/election/

The online election is a two-step process.

Step 1. Register to vote using the DMR email on file with ARIN’s Member 
Services Department. The email address must include the DMR’s name or 
initials and organization’s domain name.

Step 2. Vote and confirm the vote via the online voting booth. Only 
confirmed votes will be counted.

Designated member representatives must cast and confirm their ballots by 
3:00 EDT, 16 October.

Results of ARIN Region NRO NC Election

ARIN is pleased to announce that Jason Schiller has been re-elected to 
the Number Resource Organization (NRO) Number Council from the ARIN 
region. He will begin serving another three-year term on 1 January 2011.

On Sunday 10 October 2010 ARIN staff will be deploying network 
improvements between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 AM EDT. DNS services 
pointing to z.arin.net may be intermittent during that time. No other 
ARIN services will be affected during this maintenance window.

ARIN received the following policy proposal and is posting it to the
Public Policy Mailing List (PPML) in accordance with the Policy
Development Process.

The ARIN Advisory Council (AC) will review the proposal at their next
regularly scheduled meeting (if the period before the next regularly
scheduled meeting is less than 10 days, then the period may be extended
to the subsequent regularly scheduled meeting). The AC will decide how
to utilize the proposal and announce the decision to the PPML.

The AC invites everyone to comment on the proposal on the PPML,
particularly their support or non-support and the reasoning
behind their opinion. Such participation contributes to a thorough
vetting and provides important guidance to the AC in their deliberations.

Policy statement: Any RIR's member may transfer IPv4 addresses to the
member of another RIR as long as the two RIRs agree and exercise
Internet stewardship and the values expressed in RFC2050.

Rationale: Since individual RIRs now allow transfers, it makes sense to
be able to transfer between regions as well.
