Wireshark 1.6.0rc1 is now available


I'm proud to announce the release of Wireshark 1.6.0rc1. This is the
first release candidate of the upcoming 1.6 (stable) branch.

What is Wireshark?

   Wireshark is the world's most popular network protocol analyzer.
   It is used for troubleshooting, analysis, development and
   education.

What's New

  Bug Fixes

   The following bugs have been fixed:

     o Wireshark is unresponsive when capturing from named pipes on
       Windows. (Bug 1759)

     o Ring buffers are no longer turned on by default when using
       multiple capture files.

  New and Updated Features

   The following features are new (or have been significantly
   updated) since version 1.4:

     o Wireshark can import text dumps, similar to text2pcap.

     o Huzaifa Sidhpurwala of the Red Hat Security Response Team
       discovered that a corrupted Diameter dictionary file could
       crash Wireshark.

       Versions affected: 1.2.0 to 1.2.16 and 1.4.0 to 1.4.6.

     o Huzaifa Sidhpurwala of the Red Hat Security Response Team
       discovered that a corrupted snoop file could crash Wireshark.
