Hi, (sorry about my english) I'm newbie to wireless and I have a dell inspiron 600m running debian/sarge. Since its wireless card is not supported under linux, I'm looking for a new card. I just want you to suggest me which would be my best choice in terms of the following: 1. Easy to configure. 2. Fully kismet sniffing support. 3. Easy to find it out in the market. 4. Good price. Cheers, Jean Pierre

Well, as Mike writes on the same page: They are basically unsupported (at least by me). So as allways when using unsupported items, you are SOL and on your own ;) Dutch On Apr 11, 2005 6:39 AM, Richard Farina <sidhayn <at> buckeye-express.com> wrote: > At 12:09 AM 4/11/2005, Dutch wrote: > >You don't. > >Try to read the section about Capture Sources in the Kismet README > >file. Mike et al - Since no one on list has said if the patched cisco drivers are any good, I have decided to give it a try. I pulled kernel sources for 2.4, got everything up and running all happy, but I'm at a loss. I am to understand that these patched drivers allow channel hopping control for kismet, is there a way to tell kismet this? It seems like your standard ethx:wifix interface so I tell kismet I have a cisco_wifix and it disables channel hopping, so.... how do I tell kismet that it's okay to hop channels? Thanks. -Rick Farina

dragorn patched cisco drivers

Since no one has come forward to talk about dragorn's patched cisco drivers, I figured I would just give is a try myself. I downloaded the pre-patched cisco drivers from the download section and tried to install them only to find.... um, I seem to have no idea what I am doing. I have kernel 2.6.11, and I put the directory containing the files in various places and type "make", but nothing seems to happen. I would just replace airo.c and airo_cs.c, but there are other files and a Makefile and I don't know where they all go. Can anyone give me some idea how to do this? -Rick Farina

I don't know if any of you have check out chopchop (search netstumbler forums) or the new aireplay beta (search google for aircrack), but there is a cool patch for linux-wlan-ng that allows transmit while in monitor mode, kinda interesting if I do say so myself. The question is, however, my card seems to be having problems with newer drivers (even unpatched ones) and it's never acted so funny. So basically I was wondering if anyone could point me to the newest (preferably japanese for full channel support) firmware for the prism2 cards. Thanks in advance, and if anyone has trouble with the patch and is interested, let me know, and I'll post my patch. -Rick Farina PS> Still curious about anyone who has tried dragorn's patched cisco driver...
