Re: removing icon

I think this needs to be first question in FAQ on vnc website.

The answer is no.

RE: printing

Hi Dan,

VNC Personal & Enterprise Editions support file-transfer between viewer &
server, which can be used to pass files to the other end for printing.
Unfortunately printer support varies significantly between platforms, so
general cross-platform printing support is non-trivial to arrange!

Cheers,

RE: clients on dual monitors: turn off bump scrolling?

I would like to repeat the request of James Lawry (see email below, 2005)
regarding being able to disable bump scrolling.

Like James, I have a VNC session spread across two monitors. My setup is
slightly different however. I have a Linux Python script (server-side) which
moves new windows (which by default pop up in the center; i.e. the monitor
boundary) to the current monitor (defined by the mouse location), and can
maximize / restore / move windows to a given monitor. This allows me to work
with either one or two screens on the Linux side. In Windows (viewer-side), I
have another very small script I made using AutoHotKey (Windows scripting
software) to resize the view window across one or two monitors at a given
key-combination.

This setup works very nicely. I often just use one of my two monitors, but
this allows me to use both when I need it. I don't need to always move /
resize windows either.

However, bump-scrolling is an issue for me too. It's no problem when I using
both monitors, but when I just want to use one monitor, it quite often bumps
over when I'm moving to my Windows window.

Therefore, I would like to request that an option (default: bump_scrolling =
ON) be added to the VNC viewer. I am quite sure this feature has been an
annoyance for others before too in normal viewing applications.

Thank-you,

          Matt Van Dyken.

RE: printing

Dan

Depending on the platform, yoics might be able to handle most of the items
that you are interested in doing. Yoics works like an IM client, opening up
dedicated tunnels depending on the service type & allows you to configure
for VNC as well as printer drivers.

For example, you could use Yoics to tunnel into a remote machine (which does
not have to be exposed to the Internet) and set the remote machine to
forward port 9100 over to a remote printer - so that it can print at the
location that the person is actually working from.

The main yoics page has some animated configuration pages, which should give
you an idea of how it works.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Ryo

Unable to navigate with mouse

Hello

I am using VNC Viewer Personal Edition ver 4.2.6.

After getting connected to another network, I am unable to use the mouse
to navigate. When I use the mouse(left-click) I get a "Page cannot be
displayed" error. I now navigate by right-clicking the links and
selecting the Open menu.

Is there any settings which should be changed?

Thanks

Pinky

Problem: Viewer silently terminating itself

I'm using RealVNC 4.1.2 on Windows XP Home. I want the connection to
remain open indefinitely. But I find that after a while the viewer
program terminates with no message. I've monitored it and established
that this termination takes place 8 hours 20 minutes (30000 seconds)
after the connection is established, so it looks deliberate. I've
searched for a setting that I can alter, without success.

Can anyone confirm that this actually is a RealVNC "feature", and tell
me how to get round it?

RE: Problem: Viewer silently terminating itself

Mike,

It sounds like the IdleTimeout of your server is set to 30000 seconds. If
you set it to zero then it won't timeout.

Cheers,

WinXPsp2 with RealVNC4.2.1 probs at logoff the server-computer

hello all,

we have tested with RealVNC 4.2.1 a long time since i had written the last time.

so the actually stand is:

- the server-comuter starts winxpsp2 with autologon in a limited-rights account.
- i capture it with the admin-account on a client-computer with winxpsp2, too.
- if i send the ctrl-alt-del command and wanna logoff the limited-rights account to logon into the
admin-account, at the most time it`ll functioning.
- but if i press the start-button on the server-computer and press "logoff" the system crashes and restart

ok, now our test-results:

- if i lock the captured computer (with the client!) and relock it and then i logoff, it`ll functioning!!!
ever time!!!
- the limited rights have no action on the problem, cauz if i set the admin-account on autologon, the same
problem comes!
- so, we have seen that the AUTOLOGON is associated with the problem, BUT (now comes the fucking but ;)) we
have a older winxpsp2 installation on two other computer with the same settings, installations, ect. and
there is no problem with VNC and AUTOLOGON

once again, a other guy from the world, have sent me a email yesterday with the depainting of the same
problem, and we have no resolution on the problem!

so, i please the professionals from VNC to help us two with this problem, i dont know what remains to be done!

Windows mobile and VPN

Version: VNC Viewer Enterprise Edition for Pocket PC E4.2.7ba
Device: T-Mobile MDA Vario 2 [Windows Mobile 5]

The free desktop version of RealVNC works fine between computers at work.

My employer has a VPN network. From home, I can log in to my broadband
provider, log in to the VPN and then use the desktop version of RealVNC
[free edition] and all works fine, again.

And if I have my WM5 device connected to the desktop computer at work, the
mobile version of VNC works.

However, I would like the mobile VNC to work from my 'phone when roaming
around the World. I can connect to the works VPN from the 'phone [via 3G,
HSDPA, GPRS, Wi-Fi, whatever] but it seems that as soon as I try running
VNC on the 'phone, the VPN connection is broken.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Keith
