Best way to read articles by only some posters in a given thread?

Quite often when faced with a large thread, I find myself wanting to
read only the articles in it written by certain posters (ones prolific
enough to post in other threads as well, threads that I don't want to
read at the moment).

Is there any efficient way to do this? So far the best way I have
found is to do '/Author/Hfrom:+', then narrow the view to only selected
threads with E, then manually unselect everything but the relevant
thread (which is tedious and possibly error-prone if there's a lot of
threads the person has posted in).

 Also tried:
	- select thread
	- ::M to vanish everything else
	- unselect thread
	- select specific authors, read
	- Y to get all the other articles back
... except that they come back selected, and I haven't found a good
way of unselecting them all again save leaving and reentering the
newsgroup (at which point the 'Y' becomes surplus).

Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.

You should be able to run ":-" to deselect everything in a group.

Also, in your first scenario, after narrowing the view to the threads
with selected articles using 'E', you could try using '#' to read just
the current thread (ignoring all other selected threads) but I have a
feeling that it will cause the whole thread to become selected as a
side-effect, which is obviously not what you want (I didn't test this
to know for sure).

Been a while since got a trn-workers email. Off listserve? How to get back on?

The subject says it all -- how to get back onto the
trn-workers listserve -- that is, if I'm off it.

Or maybe it's just quiescent these days/months(/years)?

David

PS: Also, where to find an archive of past trn-workers email?

PS: Just in case the trn-workers addr isn't enough,
I include the four on the CC-line...

You can check your subscription and view the archives via the web
interface. Go to http://trn.sf.net and click on "Project", and then
"Mailing Lists". There hasn't been much activity in a while, though.
