No answer here, but I have been baffled by this strange behavior with
Scroogle, as well, the last week or so. Wonder what's up?

I have sent them an e-mail three days ago because of this issue and
asked, if they are blocking Tor, but got no answer.

I noticed the same problems with 'ssl.scroogle.org' - not even a 'ping'
was replied! On 2008-09-29 I switched my Tor node at home from an exit
node to a middleman node. Yesterday there where no problems with direct
connections to 'ssl.scroogle.org' anymore.

So I switched my Tor node back to an exit node and as soon my Tor node
was listed as 'exit': same problem! No direct connect to
'ssl.scroogle.org' is possible nor 'pings' are replied.

I wonder, why these guys block IPs of Tor exit nodes ...?

Re: Strange problem with Tor/Scroogle

[Update]

Switching back my Tor node to a middleman node allows me again
connecting 'ssl.scroogle.org' directly but not over Tor.

For me, 'scroogle' is EVIL!

Thanks all for the replies..
It's nice to know it wasn't just me or some local problem so for me
Scroogle out.. ixquick.com in. (the Mycroft Project even has some nice
pre-made ixquick search add-ins for FF at
http://mycroft.mozdev.org/search-engines.html?name=ixquick )

DoS attack

Hi,

the Tor node "gpfa" is for 10 hours target of a DoS attack.
The attack is running on at the moment.

The web services of "awxcnx.de" are down too.
(web-proxy for tor and i2p and mixmaster webinteface)

What is going on here? (see Scroogle)

I'm sorry to hear that. :(

Was it an exit relay?

(I don't see it in my list of relays, so I guess it has been offline
for quite a while now?)

https://www.torproject.org/faq-abuse#TypicalAbuses provides a bit of
background that may help in this case.

I doubt that the Scroogle thread is related to this. It's probably just
some jerk who also happens to own a small botnet.

Yes, it was an exit relay (but not one of the top tor nodes).

It is offline for more than 10 hours. I did not recognize the start of
the DoS attack because I was sleeping tonight ;-)

Thanks, I have more than one experience with the authorities, but this
 is a new kid.
