Re: Video Driver Issue

Gene,

Thanks for your reply. I have not gotten into the modeline command yet, but
I have seen it in the past on some of the Linux X config problems I ran
into. Trevor attempted to explain it to me awhile back, but I have never
really followed up or used that yet seeing that I really did not understand
the syntax. Btw, in the last case of the monitor I tested, I did use the
native resolution, but it defaulted to 1680x1024 and was not practical to
use as everything was way to small

Problems with Thinstation Configuration - Display and Errors messages

Hi everyone,

I'm new in thinstation and I'm get a lot of problems to use it.
I want to use this Linux only to use RDP with Windows Server 2008. I need to use remote boot because my thinclient don't have flash memory (PXE).
My thinclient is a F2950 model from Centerm. This thinclient has geode video card and realtek 8169 network card.

My Problems:

1. I want to use 1680x1050 resolution.
The manual page tells me this information: WSXGA - 1680×1050 - 65.29kHz - 60Hz
After configure all files, I get this message : "Input not support"

2. After show "Welcome to Thinstation 2.2" I get this message:
ls dev/input/event* no such file

3. I can't put my own bootsplash screen. I saved an image following instructions but don't work

My configured files:

# SESSION
SESSION_0_TITLE="Terminal Service"
SESSION_0_TYPE=rdesktop
SESSION_0_SCREEN=1
SESSION_0_SCREEN_POSITION=2
SESSION_0_RDESKTOP_SERVER=192.168.1.100
SESSION_0_RDESKTOP_OPTIONS="-u user -p password -a 16 -0 -r sound:remote -z"
SESSION_0_AUTOSTART=On

# DISPLAY
SCREEN_RESOLUTION="1680x1050"
SCREEN_HORIZSYNC="64-66"
SCREEN_VERTREFRESH="60"
SCREEN_COLOR_DEPTH="16"
SCREEN_BLANK_TIME=10
SCREEN_STANDBY_TIME=20
SCREEN_SUSPEND_TIME=30
SCREEN_OFF_TIME=60
MOUSE_RESOLUTION=100
X_COOKIE=36d71ab65c10ef065702c111a3d31593

Thanks
Ronaldo

Re: Problems with Thinstation Configuration - Display and Errors messages

Hi Carlos,

My thinclient has this hardware:
AMD LX800 500MHz Processor (Fanless) With AMD CS5536 Chipset
Realtek RTL8139/810x/8169/8110
32mb Video Memory and 256Mb DDR Ram
(factory offers this information : video up to 1920×1440x32-bit true color, 85Hz)

I get thinstation image at TS-O-MATIC using thinstation 2.2.2 build.
I've tried to build my own image compiling on Linux box with the same result.

My DHCP server is Tftpd32 running on Windows XP for tests.
If I use 1024x768 thinstation works good but my monitor is widescreen.

Thanks
Ronaldo

Multiple Modelines

Guys,

Can multiple modelines be specified as you would in a normal xorg.conf?

Not through the current TS scripting (although it's actually not too
hard to change the script - it was just written as a single, because
that was what was needed at the time ;-)

The script is packages/x-common/etc/init.d/x

Building locally, you could possibly add your modelines into the base
XOrg config files (packages/xorg6/lib/X11/XF86Config-Xorg.tpl) - but
I'm not sure if this will work or not.

Logs

Guys,

Could you browse through my messages and Xorg ogs and see what i may improve on? Especially the Xorg log about
mid way down you will see:

Mode "1400x1024" is larger than BIOS programmed panel size of 1440 x 900.

With several failures on wghat appears to be probing of my video chipset.

Re: Problems with Thinstation Configuration - Display and Errors messages

I'm afraid you're stuck at the same point as me: Have a look at the
thread "Adding geode video driver to Thinstation" on this list. Looks
like your thinclient loads the vesa module for xorg, so no fancy
resolutions are possible...

Let us know if you are luckier than me investigating for a geode-driver
working on TS!

Cheers
Paul

Re: Modeline

Thanks Robert.

I'll try use this :)
I saw the log file and my thinstation is getting VESA driver to use in
my monitor.
If this modeline don't work, I'll need to use video-geode driver...
