Re: URGENT: memory leakage!!

Please send to the list....

No use asking me (maybe Kevin has used it) as I don't seem to have this
problem and have not tried to implement the fix (none of my connections
are for any real length of time).

I really know very little about X (other than to use it), but would
guess that he is referring to the /etc/X11/xinit/.xinitrc script.

AJ (Adrien Guillon) is the original author of the post. You might try
him.

Good Luck

We are in big troubles cause our thinclient is still freezing because
 of a memory leakage with NX.
Can you explain us how we can fix this problem ?
We don't understand how and where we should write this script:
    However, adding this option to a startup script works fine (I mean the
 script that executes server side before initializing the windowmanager):

 temp=`hostname -f`
 DISPLAY=`echo $DISPLAY | sed -e "s/^unix:/$temp:/"`We tried to add these
parameters to the Xorg argument list on thinstation:

 Xorg -ld 20480 -ls 20480 -bs -su

changing packages/x-common/etc/init.d/x script within the build_command
function
 (first line)
 X_CMD="$X_SERVER :$DISPLAY_NUMBER -ld 20480 -ls 20480 -bs -su"

but nothing appened. The client is still freezing, and the DISPLAY on Nx is
set to unix:...
Should we change this DISPLAY ? How and where ?

Re: URGENT: memory leakage!!

What's the amount of memory in the thins?
Which session type are you running, besides uinx (gnome?;...)

Which speed of data line from server to thins do you have?
What does the free command tells you before and after logging in to nx on the terminal?

Do you have the same problem running plain x?

Re: URGENT: memory leakage!!

Kevin, I'm pretty sure it's a memory leak in NX/Xorg.  Passing -ld 20480 -ls 20480 -bs -su to Xorg should limit the memory usage, but I've no idea how to pass the options.

Re: Allowed characters in thinstation.conf

Thank you Trevor and Mike, putting one (or two \) in front of the / works, but CITRIX read the \ too while trying
to auto create the printer, although it was not visible in wfclient.ini. So I tried Mikkels tip to remap a
"dummy Printer name" within citrix and now I'm happy.

Greetings from Germany

Tom

You could try
PRINTER_0_NAME="Epson Stylus Color ESC\/P 2"
(note the \) and see if it escapes that character.

Bug(2.2rc4

Hi

I have a problem with 2.2RC4 and 2.2RC5 releases.

The problem is with the Loadlin part (have tested an ISO file with same configuration and it works fine).

It starts from DOS 6.22 and loads but when the uncompress starts it halts, se below

The problem_______________________________

Uncompressing Linux…

Invalid compressed format  (err=1)

-- System Halted

__________________________________________

Have tested with different hardware and in VMware – same result.

I have a customer that is running Thinstation from DOS on some hardware because they did not work with syslinux – system halted. The PC is working with an older version of thinstation but without sound. On this new version everything is working from the ISO CD but they would like to have the software installed on the harddrive.

How did you copy the vmlinuz & initrd files? They need to be copied as
binary files, not as ascii or text.

What version of thinstation are you running? And how did you build etc.?
What are the session parameters defined in your
thinstation.conf.buildtime and in any other thinstatiuon.conf<whatever>
files?
