Re: Can't Get Global configuration file

Used the TS-O-Matic option using 2.1.3 to create a buildtime file. Have been
able to boot to the thinstation main screen (rdp icon). However i'm able to
launch an RDP session to preconfigured ip in buildtime file. I'd like this session
to automatically start (prepopulated ip) without user intervention and remove
that toolbar etc. Here is the main parts of my buildtime file below:
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HELP ! Citrix client problem (Connection timeouts intermittently)

Hello all,

We are working on a problem for the last 2 months.

What we are doing is that we published Program Neighborhood has an application and configured everything to connect directly to the citrix server and start Program Neighborhood upon clicking a menu icon.

We are experiencing three very annoying problems :

First, when starting the ICA client, it stalls intermittently (~ once every 3 times) with a delay of 25-30 seconds before finally seeing a window and then it connects.

Second, again intermittently, when starting the ICA client, it stalls completely on the message « Connecting to proxy server » for 5 minutes and we get the error message « Unable to connect to PN », with PN as the Application Name.

Third, we have configured the Windows Server 2003 DHCP server with a Boot server option and installed a tftp server (SolarWinds) to put the thinstation.conf.network and initrd file. But if we don’t restart the tftp server at least once a day, some stations are stalling at boot time, during the network configuration (at the half of the yellow line).

So we have about 20 computers and getting 4-5 calls a day for those problems. We really can’t see what’s going on.

Please help us, what’s wrong !

Thank you everyone,

linphone libtool error

I'm trying to build linphone-1.2.0 in the 2.2.current source
environment, and it's dying on me with the following libtool error:

| rm -fr .libs/libmediastreamer.lax
| mkdir .libs/libmediastreamer.lax
| rm -fr .libs/libmediastreamer.lax/libgsm.a
| mkdir .libs/libmediastreamer.lax/libgsm.a
| (cd .libs/libmediastreamer.lax/libgsm.a && ar x /source/linphone-1.2.0/mediastreamer/../gsmlib/.libs/libgsm.a)
| libtool: link: ERROR: object name conflicts: .libs/libmediastreamer.lax/libgsm.a//source/linphone-1.2.0/mediastreamer/../gsmlib/.libs/libgsm.a
| make[2]: *** [libmediastreamer.la] Error 1
| make[2]: Leaving directory `/source/linphone-1.2.0/mediastreamer'
| make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
| make[1]: Leaving directory `/source/linphone-1.2.0'
| make: *** [all] Error 2

Given that the Thinstation build environment isn't quite the normal
one for Linux, I though I ought to ask here first...

Also, I note that one of the libraries expects struct addrinfo to be
defined. What tweaks does one normally use in Thinstation to get
netdb to define this, or is it just not going to work anyway, due to
missing stuff in the relevant libraries?

Re: How to enable COM-port redirection under ICA?

Did you ever get COM-ports working? We have just come across a
situation where we need to get COM-ports working as well.

Thanks.

Re: COM port mapping (fwd)

Did something to change the speed get added to the startup? We are just
needing to map COM-ports for the first time. . .not being successful yet.

I am sure its related to permissions on either /etc, /var/lock or
/dev/ttyS0 because I can run minicom with the -s option & it runs fine.

Re: How to enable COM-port redirection under ICA?

We got it working with the TS 2.1.3 defaults. We had re-enabled the COM
port mapping on the server (actually uncheck the disable box). . .still
didn't work until I was reminded to check and re-enabled the COM ports
in the BIOS. :-| Added "change client com1: com1:" to the user's login
scripts.

Re: Can't Get Global configuration file

Basically, it sounds like you only want a RDP session to start
automatically. You need to change the session variables. You only need
one entry and you can set that to autostart. You also do not need to
include a window manager if all you are going to do is start a RDP session.

Basically can remove all SESSION options except something like this:

Autostart=On
SESSION_0_TITLE="Title"
SESSION_0_TYPE=rdesktop
SESSION_0_RDESKTOP_SERVER=192.168.1.222
#SESSION_0_RDESKTOP_OPTIONS="-u 'username' -a 16 -r
sound:local,disk:floppy=/mnt/floppy,cdrom=/mnt/cdrom,usb=/mnt/usbdevice -N"
SESSION_0_ICON=ON

The OPTIONS line is optional. . .lol. . .but that sample line is what I
have from that last time I tried to connect all the client drives (I
don't use that line - it is commented out)

In your build.conf configuration options, you can comment out (#)
package icewm and package blackbox to make the boot image smaller/faster
to load. The compiled package should end up around 7MB or less with what
you need.

Re: HELP ! Citrix client problem (Connection timeouts intermittently)

It sounds like you have some network problems at the core. . .Can we see
your TS config files? What version are you using? How did you build it -
TS-O-Matic, local build environment, prebuilt? Do you have a lot of
extra NIC's in your build.conf? Do you have more than one Citrix server?

I have never used a third party TFTP. We use the one in Windows designed
for RIS. There are instructions for installing it on the site. We
haven't had any issues with that.

Centralizing Thinstation image

Hello all!
I'm now pretty satisfied with my Thinstation installation. I'm using the
Harddisk-Boot method, which is working perfectly.
As I'm now thinking of setting up some more PCs with Thinstation, I was
wondering if I may somehow "centralize" the management of it all.
What can be done, to reduce the configuration time and effort of
Thinstation PCs? I'm actually using DHCP with reservations (for local
printing purposes). TFTP wouldn't be an issue, if it would come handy to
use.
I'm waiting for suggestions.

Many thanks
