Re: Good News!!

Excellent!!

But don't keep us in suspense -- What was the problem?
We'll add it to the Etherboot documentation and save some future person
some time.
If you'd be willing to write up your procedure, we'd be most grateful.

I'd especially like to hear more about your setup. What computer
models, BIOS, and what software you're network booting to.

I'm really glad you stuck with it and got it to work!

dhcpcd Error [165], Please Help

Hello !

I have Booterror by DHCP .

Error is :

            No such file or Directory (many lines, and then the line),

Dhcpcd [165]: terminating on signal [1]

Whats this ??

I have the thinstation.nbi File in 2 Networks,

In Network 1 is all ok and working !

In the Network 2 not L

Thin clients do not appear in the network environment.

I see an amusing Thinclientnamen (ts_MACADR[]) on the DHCP server.

The DHCP server announces that the name invalid indications contains.

The DHCP (Windows) server is exactly directly as in network 1 configures.

The only difference is in network 2 the DNS name from the NETBIOS the domain name differs.

Does the Thinstation Client thereby have a problem???

Unfortunately I see the error message only with boats, and in no log file.

What can I do ?

Please help !!

Difficulties using ica

hi to all thinstation users out there,
i downloaded the 0.92 prebuilt version for windows and it worked instantly.
the only problem is the graphical issue since rdp is working with 8 bit my
ms-word and acrobat documents look kind of strange.

now i am trying to solve the problem by running the ica protocol. we are
using two win nt 4.0 terminal servers. both are running citrix ica.
connecting to these servers via rdp works but with ica i can't connect to
those servers.
here is an excerpt of the thinstation.conf as well as the error message i
receive on my server:

#########################
SESSION_0_TYPE="ica"
SESSION_0_SERVER=200.1.88.7
SESSION_0_OPTIONS=
X_MODES="1024x768"
X_COLOR_DEPTH=24

X_HORIZSYNC="31.47, 35.16, 35.52, 37.5, 46.9, 60"
X_VERTREFRESH="56-87"
X_MOUSE_PROTOCOL="PS/2"
X_MOUSE_DEVICE=/dev/psaux
#X_FONT_SERVER=192.168.1.2:7100

 --- Ica Options----
ICA_ENCRYPTION=Basic
ICA_COMPRESS=On
ICA_AUDIO=On
ICA_INITIAL_PROGRAM="200.1.88.7"
ICA_KEYBOARD="(Server Default)"
ICA_KEYBOARD=DE
############################

The error message says:

'The system cannot find the following file:
error component: #200.1.88.7'

############################

i assume that the ICA_INITIAL_PROGRAM makes the trouble, but i don't have a
clue how to solve this.
could anyone give me some helping hints...
thanks
thomas

RE: Difficulties using ica

what version are you using with the config file? 0.92?

the latest release rc1 fixes that problem with ica, its the # is being not
correctly added, there is some previous posts on this in the mailing list.
when 1.0 is finalised (in a couple of weeks) there will be another prebuilt
which will have this fix

another fix may be to make your application set resolvable to a IP address
and change the IP in your config to the application set name, this should
also work.

Need Help for 1.1

Hi All,

I'm planning to release rc2 of 1.0 this week. And hopefully the final
release soon after that, as no one has reported anymore bugs becides a few
I've fixed for rc2. I've been working on 1.1 and its looking pretty cool
with some great new features. However, I need some help with a couple of
things.

1)

I need someone to come up with a good icon for thinstation. I've done some
work on 1.1 with a web access interface, its really cool. As its come from
PXES I don't want to use there Icons. I've got a remote control option on
the web client too, which only adds around 100k. The current PXES are

-rw-r--r--    1 root     root         1406 Jun 24 15:15 pxes-micro.ico
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root         6943 Jun  3 16:25 pxes-tiny.png

So need some replacements, the pxes-micro.ico is for the title bar, the
pxes-tiny.png is for the web page.

2) Need someone to find bug in a C program, it is xwChoice and I can send
the source code. The problem is you can't press enter and have to click on
ok, this is just an annoyance but it would be nice to fix. With linking
against libXaw.so.7 it works fine, but linking against libXaw.so.6.1 it
doesn't.  However, so.7 is 120k bigger than 6.

3) Need someone to write a new feature to the httpd script. I know little
about how a web page/engine works and I've spent a long time trying to get
something working. You are meant to put in a root password to reboot the
box remotely, however, the PXES script I used shows the password on the URL,
which is not acceptable. I've tried to implement a POST method into the
script but couldn't get it to work properly as I don't know what needs
doing.

So can anyone help with anything above. Please sent me a email.

Cheers

Miles

usb storage

Hi All,

I've had some success in getting usb-storage to work for 1.0 thinstation. I
now have a usb stick to play with, but I still can't get it to work
correctly.

There is some scripting problems which I need to sort out. In addition to
this when I load all the modules, the last one to load, sd_mod comes back
with the following error:

unable to get major 65 for scsi disk

If I load the sd_mod before the usb_storage module it loads, but usb_storage
comes back with a similar error.

If I can work out what is wrong we should be able to get the USB Storage
module working. This is the last thing I want to fix before rc2 so any help
would be great.

I've enabled all the kernel module options under the usb mass storage
support.  Still no luck.  Ideas?

Cheers

Miles
