You need have (in easy speaking) same glibc and needed libraries (or you
must statically compile your app). Kernel panic is curious, if I run some
failed program, I was never get kernel panic. Only if I was have bad
hardware or kernel.

I have no experience with CF media, but I *guess* you'll need a IDE-to-CF
converter. That *should* make linux autodetect the CF card as any other
IDE disk if your BIOS/motherboard support it as well.

ica -- HELP

I am new to this thinstation stuff and a novice to linux.

I have setup the thinstation to connect to my terminal server farm and it works great. But we need to use the ica clients instead of rdp.

I have read some brief docs on re-compiling to create a thinstation.nbi file for ica. My question is do I need the ica from citrix installed on my linuz box before i compile?

any docs and help to get me going will be appreciated....thanks

If your computer recognize the CF as a IDE, it is automatically mounted by
Thinstation. You can verify by pressing Ctrl-Alt-F5 and log in as root
with the password "pleasechangeme" (unless you actually did change it).
Type:
ls /tmp/disc
If you see your files everything is fine.

USB Storage Device

I've got Thinstation up & running with a tftp server and a epia 5000 mobo.
So far so good.

However:

1) I've enabled the USB module and attached a USB printer (to the USB port
of course ...), enabled samba. But I cannot see the machine in our local
network. What do I need to do from here on ...

2) I've got a USB keyring device. Some of our users require to be able to
copy files to a local device and take home. What I was thinking was to
somehow put thinstation onto the keyring, boot from that and also provide a
share on the client to enable the user to copy files to. The share would be
somewhere on the USB device. Again, what do I need to do (if it is possible)

TIA.

Samba

Another question:

I've enabled samba for local cdrom/floppy/printer access. I cannot access
the system from another machine.
I drop into a shell, and manually start the samba daemons (smbd and nmbd)
and I can then access the local devices.
I presume that this means the servers are not being started automatically.
Again, what do I need to do to make this happen ?

TIA.

Julian.

Just as a regular IDE disk!

mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/my-mount-point -t vfat

RES: thinstation

Mike,

I went to /tmp/disk and get the following message:
VFS: busy inodes on change media
                                   Cd: can't cd to disc/

I typed cd/tmp/disc and the system returned:

/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0: p1

When I do a ls command I get:

                                   /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0: p1

What is wrong? Can I write any thing here? How do I do it?

Thanks.

Tibo.

samba startup

Hi!

I've enable samba to have local cdrom, floppy and print access.

The samba service doesn't starts, and I have the following in samba.log:

file_init: Information only: requested 10000 open files, 1014 are available.
[2003/07/02
06:07:44, 0] lib/util_sock.c:open_socket_in(829)
000021941207name: Unknown host th

"th" is the DEFAUL_HOSTNAME in thinstation.conf.

In my /etc/hosts file:

127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.1.37 th000021941207
192.168.1.233

The name returned by /bin/hostname has only the mac adress, 000021941207. If I
changed it to
th000021941207, the samba service starts with no error.

How can I solve this?

Thanks!
