Hi, Do you have Mickeysoft DHCP server? Me too and I have same problem with
standard pxe/tftp booting. I think that is problem here, because hostname
is "(none)" in this case ant that is the problem.

I was walk through scripts and "hostname" is getting from DHCP (as I think,
I was not detailed study bunch of commandline parameters, sorry).

RE: thinstation.conf: 11: Syntax errpr: "(" unexpected

Hi,

Found a problem with the thinstation.gethosts script.

the two lines with

hostname $DEFAULT_HOSTNAME$host

name should have been

hostname $DEFAULT_HOSTNAME$HOSTNAME

this would cause the problems described below.

Will be fixed in rc2

Cheers

Miles

Ica help...

Hi Miles and hi all!

Giving a try to ICA, so I will be able to make pre-built for ICA....but
can't get it to work...

It seems I have to put, in thinstation.conf, the ICA server here:

ICA_INITIAL_PROGRAM=192.168.0.1

(but the parameter name is misleading... I thought I'd to put it only in
SESSION_0_SERVER)

But which application will be started?
The thinclient show me the w2000 log-on screen, but no user-name can log
into the server...

And what about the "appsrv.ini.tpl" file? I can see there is a
configuration for a [Windows2000Desktop] application server... should I
change the name of my ICA app server?
And what is the difference between SESSION_0_SERVER and
ICA_INITIAL_PROGRAM?

Well... I know, the real problem is I don't know how to use ICA, and not
only how to use it with Thinstation.... ;-) ...but I know you will be
good, and give me some suggestions....

Bye!

Paolo

Experiences...

Hi folks

I am in the process of testing Thinstaion 0.9rc2 on a school. We are running
Thinstation with rdesktop against Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003 Terminal
Servers.

I have made a few observations about Thinstation from this scenario:
1. Several clients experienced random disconnects from the Terminal Servers.
No telling what caused this. Any ideas?
2. There is a problem with the mga driver for XFree.
We have several HP Brio 71xx PCs that use an MGA G-100 AGP card.
On those machines I got a black square around the Windows mouse pointer.
If I commented out the mga packages from build.conf and rebuilt, X used
the standard driver and the mouse cursor lokked fine. I tried finding another
driver for the G-100, but I dodn't.

RE: Experiences...

with the mga driver you can try 1.0 beta when it is released

random disconnets are odd, any messages in any of the log files?

check in /var/log

control alt F5 to get into a shell

is anyone else having the same problems?

X startup issues

Guys,

If i select either TinyX, XF3 or XF4 in build.conf with the corresponding modules that my PC needs, when i start /bin/start-session 0 it gives me:

Starting X server

:0: No such file or directory

[: Xvesa: unknown operand

and aborts. Could this be some lack of XFree configuration file or something? I ain’t got a clue.

Funny thing that Xvesa is part of TinyX. I get this error even in builds without it.

Thanks,

You start /bin/start-session 0 manually? from ash
shell? If yes thats not the way.
In thinstation.conf, you have to select your sessions
and they will automatically start on startup.
