tun driver in svn 2.3 kernels

Hi

I've been using 2.3beta2 with great success with openvpn and rdesktop. I recently tried building from subversion in the hope that a new laptop's ethernet hardware would be supported, but I haven't been able to get openvpn to work with this code base.

I think the problem is that the kernels don't have 'tun' support compiled in like the 2.3beta and stable versions. The howto for compiling your own kernel looks beyond me - please would you consider adding 'tun' support next time you are compiling a kernel for the version in svn?

Warm regards
Jack

I think I am really really REALLY close to have something ready for release.

I should probably be putting this in svn, but there are a couple more little niggles with my dna scripts that I want to kill before I do that.

But for those interested, I have my full chroot, source, build environment available for download at http://www.shepherdit.com/thinstation-testing.tar.bz2 . It's about 430 mb and only has one working locale, but I think it's well worth the download. Cheers.

Re: I think I am really really REALLY close to have something ready for release.

Exactly what are the requirements to the build environment? I can't
even run the setup script as it complains about kernel version and I'm
running the current Ubuntu LTS.

#uname -r
2.6.32-32-generic

That's hardly "old".

I can only recommend everybody to try it out. It's a beta and have
lots of rough edges and is even more overweight than my cat, but
interesting. Feed back is needed.

Re: Here's a fun live CD.

Would it be possible to have the build environment for this CD?
