Driver for Realtek 8101E

Hi,

We have been using thinstation for more than an year, and by last month we bought some new PCs with motherboard gigabyte GA-945GCM-S2L (net = realtek 8101E).

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2669

As you may know, there is no pre-compiled net driver for this realtek. So, I downloaded the source files from Realtek and compile with thinstation.2.2.1 source, and for my hapinness, WORKS! I just copied the compiled r8101.ko to driver directory [Thinstation-2.2.1/kernel/modules/kernel/drivers/net] e include a new package in build.conf.

Afterwards, If you think it is interesting, I could send the driver to publish on site.

Att.,

Carlos

proposes for new thinstation version

Hi everybody!
I've successfully downloaded and installed in my domain Thinstation and I've turned old forgotten pcs in new performant Thinclients. Thinstation is great and it's quite difficoult to think this job is created only thank to many people with their own job, with a limiteded contributors support!!!
But If I could suggest something (and I hope many others people too)  what is really missing in Thinstation project is a Centralized Configuration Panel in which is it possible to manage users  connections Thin Clients and type of connections and so on.. (may be it could be an web browser interface on apache server ...)
Another feauter I would like to suggest is ldap integrations... In the most of enviroments The Ldap /AD is the central point of all domain... It could very useful to manage the users in this way, because many servers, many applications require this authentication...
And at least it could be useful adding in thinstation the vmware desktop broker client.....
Many thanks everybody for your fantastic job!!!!

Hello developers,

here is a modification for downloading pkg-files via wget. I've adopted
it from /etc/init.d/S07network_files
i changed the load function in /bin/pkg. the scp method does not work.
it falls back to tftp

example thinstation.conf.buildtime
---snip---
NET_FILE_ENABLED=On
NET_FILE_METHOD=wget
PKG_PACKAGES="firefox"
PKG_PREFIX=pkg
---snap---

example build.conf

/bin/pkg

        echo_log "Loading package $2 (storage)..." -n $debug
