ETA of 2.2.1 and 2.3

Hi Miles,

I don't want to rush you, but can you give a new date when we can expect
2.2.1 and 2.3 to be uploaded? I need a few new things that are in them
very badly, so having a date would be nice.

Sander

Re: ETA of 2.2.1 and 2.3

Hi Sander,

Thinking about this myself.

Work/home commitments are going to mean I won't be able to spend anymore time on TS for a few weeks.
So, have decided I will be uploading 2.2.1rc1, 2.3b1, source for both this weekend (unless the end
of the world occurs before then).

So then someone else can look at the development environment, upload to svs, and do what ever needs
to be done to make it more developer friendly. Then post a howto, so all the developers (including
myself) can do the odd bit as time and family life permits :o)

Note, the last todo list has nothing done on it (with one exception), nor is it likely to by this
weekend. I won't have time to apply anymore patches if anything does come through before then in
any case. 2.3 has been tested moderately now, and is reasonably stable, I haven't actually tested
2.2, so hoping all the patches I've applied were tested ok, and I didn't miss/make a mistake in
anything, I'll do a quick test before uploading, but pretty confident it will be ok :o)

Outstanding todo list is below...

 > 2.2&3 NX2.0
 > 2.3 fix www package (fix will be to revert to old busybox 1.2.2.1, I will apply this before
uploading).
 > 2.3 review and possibly apply some hdupdate changes from francis (need to see what has already
been applied from trevor's patches)
 > 2.3?2 review and apply horiz/vert mode line patch to xorg
 > 2.3 review some nx patches
 > 2.2&3 resolve a tarrentela bug from mike
 > 2.2&3 review some other bugs in 2.2 from paulo, including serial mouse autodetection not working
 > 2.2&3 some samba server smbmount bugs.

If you can wait until after the weekend (it's a long weekend here in
OZ), I have allocated myself some time to look at NX2.0 (and the other
nx fixes) and hdupdate (looks fairly minor to re-apply my patches to
Francis' stuff).

Have already done the changes to TSoM for desktop and extensions to
Nuno's patch to allow translations for everything in build.conf. Just
need to do some more testing (and look at allowing uploads of .nxs &
possibly other config files).

SVN.

The sourceforge stuff isn't too bad, but a condensed version for us
wouldn't hurt. In the short term everyone will have read access (so they
vcan download) and the developers will have upload, but as we get a
little more used to it (and document the process), we can allow a little
wider access.

Re: ETA of 2.2.1 and 2.3

Hmm... There goes my schedule :(

I'm seeing two customers on monday, who both are a long drive away and
both have trouble with TS and local SATA disks.

My monday starts about 10 hours later then your monday, but I would
realy love to have this by then...

Is uploading sunday night of (your) mondaymorning an option?

Dunno if it is relevant but with the Dell PCs my client has been using
it is necessary to set the SATA disks into 'legacy' or 'combination'
mode in the BIOS.

Sander, the SATA support isn't widely tested (in fact, I think one
person uses it) so I wouldn't rely on it for a production environment.
Burn TS to CD Rom or something, I'd suggest.

Re: ETA of 2.2.1 and 2.3

Hi Kevin,

The problem isn't booting from the local SATA disk, but accessing it
from whitin a Citrix session. They boot with PXE and then a fullscreen
Citrix session is automatically started.

>From this session users like to access there local harddisk because they
are just migrated and still have a lot of files on the local disk.

They used windows desktops before with lot's of files on there local
disks. Most data is moved to the server, but every once and a while they
remember having a file somewhere on the local disk that they didn't move
but do need for something.

Thanks for your tip anyway...

Sander

Tell them to stop being stupid :P

You if have time on site, you could go through the disks and transfer
files with them. If you have Hdupdate configured you could push a new
version at a later date.

Re: ETA of 2.2.1 and 2.3

Thanks, will have a look if the machines there support such option. One
customer uses Dell machine, the other one HP's.

Tried that... over and over and over and... ;)

Every time they boot the download the initrd again, so I can update them easy. Point is I already promised
them to fix this twice (former ETA's), but I quess that's my own mistake :)

Thanks!
