Req: How to add pcscd support?

Hi,
I need to add pcsc support to Thinstation. I tryed many ways to add pcsclite 1.2.9 package, but no success; the pcscd always fall in segmentation fault.
Can anyone tell me how to add pcsc support to Thinstation?
Can anyone tell me if there is an "how to" anywhere?
Thanks.
Angelo.

RE: Req: How to add pcscd support?

Really, it's probably best getting together with pcsclite developers/maintainers and trying to debug why it's segfaulting in Thinstation...  It's a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack otherwise (in my opinion).

Re: Req: How to add pcscd support?

Excellent.

How are you using this? With windows apps through rdesktop or ica or for
local access & then controlling access to apps & connections? Some other
way?

Re: Req: How to add pcscd support?

At this moment we only control the local access. A screen saver blocks
all X displays in TS when the smartcard isn't right.

Telnet to host 21RC5

I just discovered that telnet to thinstation host through web interface is not working on 21RC5.

I get the window with login information but does not accept username and password.

hdupdate

Trevor,

I can't get hdupdate to work. I changed hdupdate script wity yours modified script on 21RC5 and there is no output file on /tmp

Checking boot messages i found this:

S06crond
S09hdupdate
/etc/thinstation.init: 171: //etc/rc0.d/S09hdupdate: not found
Any ideas?

Re: [Thinstation-developer] hdupdate

I am still not clear on how it all works. The buildtime conf gets a
version number. . .so, does the update check the version of the current
initrd before it updates? Do you specify the version number you want a
client to have? Or the version number it currently has? For some
reason, it isn't clear to me. I made an image with the updated
hdupdate, but I am assuming I need to install the new image on the
harddrive manually (or with tftp) before I can use the ftp/http options.

checklogs

All,

Has the subject of /bin/checklogs come up recently?

I've noticed something odd happening - on our low memory clients, after a
few hundred days uptime (did I mention TS is very stable?) the RAM disk
tends to fill.

The reason is /var/log is filling. Common cause is X constantly restarting,
when a user has logged out of Rdesktop session and reconnect prompt is
disabled. Causes about a meg of logs per day.

Here's the deal - at the minute crontab is set to spawn /bin/checklogs every
hour. Checklogs does this:

"

ts_ph:/tmp/var/log# cat /bin/checklogs
#! /bin/sh

for filename in `ls /var/log/* | grep -v ".old"`
do
        FILESIZE=`ls -s $filename | cut -c1-5`
        if [ $FILESIZE -ge 100 ] ; then
                cat $filename > $filename.old
                cat /dev/null > $filename
        fi
done

"

Would anybody else think we should actually just null the log and start
afresh, rather than keeping it? This would prevent the RAM disk from
filling.

If anybody is concerned about keeping the logs for debug reasons, maybe we
could change the crontab job to run only once a day (midnight)?

I'm fine doing the development work for this change, but I'm keen to know if
anybody wants it submitting back to the main TS branch.

Ta

Re: hdupdate

My best guess is permissions.

/etc/rc0.d/S09hdupdate is just a symbolic link to /etc/init.d/hdupdate

So the /etc/init.d/hdupdate file needs the correct execute permissions (the one
I sent you probably had my personal permissions as I editted it on my home
workstation).
