smbpasswd in thinstation

Hi to all!
I'd like add passwd and smbpasswd to thinstation, but I read that 
smbpasswd is in utils only from 2.1b and sources version is 2.0
I don't want download 270MB if it's not useful to recompile a 
version of smbpasswd that can work in a thinstation running 
environment, so I ask: is smbpasswd present in sources package?
If it's not present, how can I find a working smbpasswd?

in 2.1beta1 it handles smbpasswd, check out the new build.conf

param sambapasswd    pleasechangeme  # Password for samba shares when using
user mode security

I've also modified the samba package so it supports this now.  Although it
hasn't been tested.

if you still need the smbpasswd program, its in the utils/tools dir.  but
tell me why.

I think that should be a good idea to add a menu that permits to 
change smbpasswd while thinstation is running, so more people can 
use the same copy of thinstation without rebuild different ones and 
they can access to their local cdrom and hdd using SMB user 
authentication.
I tried to use utils/toos/smbpasswd in a running environment, but 
there are a lot of library problems.

not wanting to do this really, smbpassword has a huge overhead

additionally, I don't really like making passwords to be able to be changed
at runtime.  this seems a bit insecure.  having them defined at build time
makes a more secure environment.

I'm not aking to include it in distribution if you don't like this :-)
I want to know if in src package there is the utils/tools/smbpasswd 
sources so I can include in my personal thinstation version :-)

I'm not completely agree with you about this; look at this scenario:
hundreds of client positions with thinstation that can access to a 
big server; when a user want to mount a cdrom to put in his 
environment everyone can access to his cdrom data because everyone 
have the same smb password. This is very insecure.

Have you suggestions about this scenario?

yes, it is included in the source distro, under the samba source

as for your senario, I don't know :o)  i don't like the idea of putting in
clear text passwords in a config file, smbpasswod is to big to include,
unless we add it as a seperate package

anyone else have any ideas?

CVS (or something...)

I'm new to the list so I please all of you to forgive me for my 
question.
I'd like to make only few changes from development sources, but to 
do this I have to download more than 270MB.
I'd like to get sources from a CVS tree, but I cannot find it so I'm 
asking if there is a way to do this or something like it.

Rdesktop update

For enable or diseable the feature of Windows XP/2003, there are a patch of 
rdesktop available :

This patch add :     -x      m = modem    /   b = broadband    /   l = lan
