Hi!

Does anybody know how to make a swedish keyboard to work with ICA? This is driving my nuts!!! Using 0.92rc1...

Thanks!

tty1

Hello, All.

I'm trying to use thinstation-0.9 and now i've got the strange problem.
I'd like to run ssh in console mode on tty1 but i cant do it :(

ssh says:
You have no controlling tty. Cannot read passphrase.

So, i can write in inittab someting like that:
tty1::askfirst:/bin/start-session 0

instead
::respawn:/bin/start-session 0

and ssh will work (so, on others ttys ssh works very well without any changes).

But i dont like to see "Please press Enter to activate this console"
(and press this Enter too :))

What do you think about that?

RE: [Thinstation-general] Thinstation 1.0 feature list request

will think about this, but a better way I think would be Paolo's idea about
having groups, need some time to site down and figure out the best way to do
it, should be before 1.0 though

Hello

I think some time should be spent on improving the configuration
mechanism. The thinstation-<ip address>.conf and thinstation-<mac
address>.conf system is too cumbersome for configuring many clients. Is
it possible to implement an "ip net" configuration. That is a conf file
in the form of thinstation-<first part of ip address>.conf? This way a
client with IP 192.168.200.137 will first search for thinstation-<ip
address>.conf or thinstation-<mac address>.conf, then for
thinstation-192.168.200.conf, then for thinstation-192.168.conf and so
forth. Any other way to configure more than one client with one file
(except of thinstation.conf of course) will also be appreciated.

Regards
Morgan

Hi All,

Feature list request for 1.0.

1) Update to kernel 2.4.21 when it is released
2) Include preempt kernel patch
3) Update to XFree 4.3
4) GUI Front end to build.conf. Do we need this? Any volunteers? One
thing I would like is that is it doesn't have many dependences, i.e. I
don't
think it should be done in perl etc... I won't be doing this as I don't
have time, so it won't get done unless there is a volunteer to take it
up.
5) USB Storage device support
6) 16 meg ram disk limit

Cheers

Miles

tftp

Hi All,

Do you think it would be a good idea to recommend what TFTP server to use.
Also, can we find a freeware one which works well and put it as a download
on the thinstation site? I think this would solve quite a few problems for
people.

Any suggestions which?

If people think this is a good idea, any volunteers who wants to be
responsible for this package and write the documentation on how to set it
up?

Cheers

Hi Miles!

> Do you think this should be rc2, or 0.92?

I'm used to be very prudent on this.... so I'd call it rc2, and after a
week of testing without big problems, I'd rename it 0.92...

> * Added parameter in thinstation.hosts file for enabling samba server or
not

Well, I've proposed a more general solution to this problem that a day
(I hope! ;o) ) can perhaps replace this ad-hoc feature...
If my or some other better solution will be implemented and will
supersede the "samba flag", will we have problems of "backward
compatibility" to preserve?

Another little suggestion: we can rename in thinstation.conf "PACKAGES="
with "NSP_PACKAGES=", for uniformity with other parameters....

Bye!

rc2

Hi,

Pretty much finished the group thinstation.conf option, just need to test.

Should release rc2 tomorrow with luck.

Thinstation 0.92 will be last release of thinstation 0.9 series. Next list
of things to do will be the 1.0 feature list. Will aim for the following in
a pre 1.0

xfree 4.3
Ica 7.0
kernel 2.4.21

later will be rest of proposed enhancements.

I would also like to get the prebuilt images for thinstation ica sorted to
by 1.0, and if possible the tftp server I emailed about previously.

Cheers

Nice! ;-)

> Thinstation 0.92 will be last release of thinstation 0.9 series.

Well... there are two problems I'd like to see fixed before 1.0:

* problems with italian keyboard under X sessions, referred some time
ago... I'd like to have little time to study it...

* multi session trouble: difficult screen switching when using more than
one session... should switch to consolle F2 to start the second session,
and then to F8....

> I would also like to get the prebuilt images for thinstation ica sorted to

I'm giving a try to metaframe xp in these days... so I will be able to
create prebuilts for ica also... but I'm encountering some connection
problems... I hope to resolve them in not so many time....

> and if possible the tftp server I emailed about previously.

Regarding Windows, I'm already including in my prebuilts the
http://tftpd32.jounin.net/ server...

Bye!

RE: Re[2]: [Thinstation-general] Unresolved symbols on startup

hold on, yeah, I remeber now, it is actually working but prints up a heap of
messages at the end saying the destination is missing, just ignore,

check out the modules in the thinstation directory, you should see the
datestamp has been updated.

if you updating the modules, remeber you will need to replace the kernel as
well.

cheers

Cp: missing destination file

The destination path can be any, as long as it has thinstation in it,
right?

Here's how mine looks like:

SOURCEPATH=/mnt/installs/thinstation_src/kernel-2.4.20/linux-2.4.20
DESTPATH=/mnt/installs/thinstation/Thinstation-0.9

cd $DESTPATH/kernel/modules-2.4.20

for getdir in fs drivers net
do
	for filename in `find $getdir -name "*.o"`
	do
		justdir=`dirname $filename`
		justfile=`basename $filename`

		cp `find $SOURCEPATH/$justdir -name $justfile` $filename
	done
done

for filename in `ls *.o`
do
	cp `find ./fs -name $filename` $filename
	cp `find ./net -name $filename` $filename
	cp `find ./drivers -name $filename` $filename
	cp `find $SOURCEPATH"/net" -name $filename` $filename
done

cd $DESTPATH/packages

for getdir in lp_server supermount nfs samba sound usb
do
	for filename in `find $getdir -name "*.o"`
	do
		justdir=`dirname $filename`
		justfile=`basename $filename`

		cp `find $SOURCEPATH -name $justfile`

both need to be set,

exactly what is the error?

Hey Miles!

I've been trying to put things to work here, but i've been with no time
at all, but here it goes:

What's the secret in the update_modules.sh script? I extracted
thinstation_src, set the path on the script, and it seems like it's got
a syntax error, saying that a destination path is missing on the script.

Thanks in advance,

if you choose different options than I have, maybe, depening on the
options
choosen. in either case it shouldn't matter, the update modules script
should make things pretty easy to update

I'm using Thinstation 0.91 and it's look like that parameter
ICA_INITIAL_PROGRAM in thinstation.conf should be filled with an IP
address
of the
server or the client cannot connect to the server (I get an error 50:
cannot connect to the server ""), although we have defined it in
SESSION_x_SERVER params.

But when I fill this parameter with the server IP address, the client
can connect to the ICA server, but user cannot logon to the session.
This is not Windows settings I think, because using same Windows
setting, I can logon to the ICA server using Netstation. How can I fix
this problem?
