Dual Monitors with nvidia

Hi everyone,

I have successfully enabled dual monitors by following steps I found in the mail archive. However, I am only getting clones, a spanned display.

I am using the virtual appliance. The nvidia proprietary driver does not load, so I have to use the nv driver. Here is what I have set for graphics card options. Any suggestions?

Driver:  nv (NVIDIA)
Driver Option: "TwinView"
Driver Option: "MetaModes" "1280x1024,1280x1024; 1024x768,1024x768"
Driver Option: "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP, DFP"

Re: [Openthinclient-user] Dual Monitors with nvidia

I was never successful using the generic NV driver, I have to use the
proprietary nvidia driver.
The rest of your Driver Option configs look correct though.

I use OTC to launch RDP for my Terminal Server users and on my Terminal
Servers I use an application called "Splitview" to actually split the
desktop into two independent screens (it also makes it so dialog boxes and
stuff don't appear in the middle of the screens).

I'm not sure if the OTC Linux OS supports dual monitors or not.

Re: Dual Monitors with nvidia

Hello Alex,

you have to use a "additional" graphics card:
PCI Nvidia 280 NVS Quadro4
or
PCIe Nvidia 290 NVS Quadro4

Re: USB stick over network

I just realized that the RDP answer was given here:
http://openthinclient.org/rdesktop#rdesktop_and_USB_storage_devices

The XDMCP answer remains unknown.

Thanks,
Jef

Rdesktop problem - W2008R2

Hi everybody,

the same problem here. We connect to W2k8r2 Servers and tried it with DNS and IP-Adresses in the configuration.
After a few minutes connect is posible after the problem occurs. The problem is not reproducable in a reliable manner.
We use openThinClient 0.4.5 on a virtualized w2k8r2 Instance with 32-bit Java actual release.
Autologon is enabled as we don't use any authorisation on the OTC level. The user should get a Desktop with RDP Client, Firefox, PDF Reader and VLC.
The Config is similar to an instance which works  without problems with w2k3 TS.

Any help is appreciated

Best Regards
 Gerd

Hi,

using the virtual appliance everything goes fine but:

I can see and click (double-click) the icon on a thin client.  The application seems to start: “Rdesktop RDP client wird gestartet”

showing in the taskbar. After about 12 seconds it terminates. Nothing happens.

Any ideas?

Do you use rdesktop or rdesktop-svn? We use the latter which works with
W2k8R2 Servers.

Branch Office install?

Hi!

I'd like to discuss, what would be the best way to run otc in remote offices.
we have some of them, which are connected with 1 mbit leased lines.

is it a good idea to use them just like LAN clients?

i discovered, that it is possible to install to hd, but i'm afraid the
installation is too big to run over the WAN network.
also i'm not sure what happens, if there are updates. complete
reinstall of the client? has this to be manually triggered by users?

users are not experts, so i can't let them do any tasks.

what options do i have to work with otc on PCs in remote offices?

any input is welcome!

regards,
stefan

Re: Rdesktop problem - W2008R2

We use rdesktop. Couldn't get rdesktop-svn to run.
Complains a missing library. So which pakets we do have to upgrade also?

We use the openthinclient-server-0.1.3 virtual appliance, where no
library problems whatsoever occured and rdesktop-svn works out of the box.

Rdesktop svn with 0.4.5

Hi,

we use Windows Server 2008R2. Therefore we need rdesktop-svn which is
in the experimentel trunk.
Which pakets are neccessary to upgrade from experimentel trunk also?
I tried all without openthinclient*. During boot a package fails.
Then the logon mask occurs witch is not suitable to us. We need
autologon without user authorization.
Using the virtual machine is not an option to us.
If I only install rdesktop-svn it complains a missing library.

Best Regards
  Gerd
