Re: stopping smokeping from emailing

Removing the alert sections from your hosts should do the trick.

Re: Smokeping only keeping 4 weeks of data

Tobi,

I'm not sure how to interpret the output I'm getting.
I ran the following on one of my rrds.

ctweb <at> nightwing:~/applications/smokeping/data/HOSTS> rrdtool info
host.rrd | awk '/cf/||/rows/{print $0}'
rra[0].cf = "AVERAGE"
rra[0].rows = 1008
rra[1].cf = "AVERAGE"
rra[1].rows = 4320
rra[2].cf = "MIN"
rra[2].rows = 4320
rra[3].cf = "MAX"
rra[3].rows = 4320
rra[4].cf = "AVERAGE"
rra[4].rows = 720
rra[5].cf = "MAX"
rra[5].rows = 720
rra[6].cf = "MIN"
rra[6].rows = 720

I'm not sure how to tell which RRA is the 1 day resolution you specify.

I can verify that this seems to be a 'rolling window' as my data only
goes back to June 26, instead of June 25 as it did yesterday.

I'm confused how this might have happened. Only a few weeks ago I had
data going back several months. What might I have done on all three

Re: Smokeping only keeping 4 weeks of data

Hi Ryan,

the pdp_per_row value show how many steps there are per rra_row.

but your settings seem to be exactly as expected (config default)
so no reason going into this any further.

The only possible cause for the effect you see is that the rrd
files got re-created on the date where the data starts up again.

But since neither you nor anyone else has touched the machines that
day, I have no idea what could have happend there short of divine
intervention.

Mail Template <##URL##> not clickable.

When viewing the email alert, the <##URL##> keyword is including [from SLAVE]  tacked directly onto the end of the url.  This makes the link unclickable from within an email client.  Is this something I have configured incorrectly?

I have made a workaround in Smokeping.pm by adding another variable to take the contents of $line before the [from $slave] text is added in, and then including that in the $urlline variable instead of $line.  I could have simply inserted a space before the [from $slave] on the line

     $line .= "[from $slave]" if $slave;

to make it clickable. However, these alerts are going to a pager and need to be as clean as possible.  Possibly adding the keyword <##SLAVE##> in a future release would make the configuration of mail templates easier.  This is of course assuming that I haven't configured something incorrectly to begin with.

Thanks,

Nate

Smokeping graph export

Hello,

Is it possible to export all the smokeping graphs periodicaly?

Something like cacti's graph-export functionnality would be great.

Regards,

Alexis

Re: Smokeping graph export

Why would you need an export function?

All the images are saved and updated in the Smokeping imgcache
directory, so you can just link directly to them if you need to.

If that's the problem you're having, then couldn't you fix it very
easily by just using wget [or something similar] to access the pages you
need?

If you ran that automatically every 'x' minutes as a simple cron task,
then wouldn't that work just fine in keeping the images up to date?

Have you already got some multi-target graphs setup then? IE -
http://oss.oetiker.ch/smokeping-demo/?target=multi

They work really well if you just want to get a quick overview of
several different graphs.

Hi Asim;

Can you check to make sure that you have a recent version of rrdtool
installed?
