64 bit integers for windows?

Hi,

Now that slrn has re-entered pre-release testing is it a good time to
allow 64 integers for article numbers in the windows slrn by default?
I am running the current svn slrn on windows:

phantom posts

Often there are numerous messages listed for a newsgroup but when I
download them there are only a few. The latest exmple is rec.guns which
showed 171 messages but 5 were present after downloading. Not sure if
this is a slrn problem or a news server problem. Any ideas or
suggestions would be appreciated. I'm running slrn 0.9.9p1/mm/ao on
ubuntu 8.04.

It's neigther a problem of slrn nor the news server. These phantom
messages are canceled or superseded messages. The news server
increments the article number for each message. Slrn later tries to
fetch the new message, but the server doesn't deliver the deleted
messages. Slrn can't see which messages aren't available until it tries
to fetch them.

Bye, Jörg.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. It's good to know I don't have a problem.

If anyone can change the slrn.sf.net pages: RPMs of 0.9.9p1 for CentOS 5
and RHEL 5 can be found at <http://people.centos.org/ralph/packages/>
(the same place the 0.9.9 packages are at).

Cheers,

Ralph

Thanks very much for that Ralph, I have altered the site to relect the
change.

All the best,
