Error when upgrading to samba 3.0.25b: NT_STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND

Hi,
I just upgraded from:
samba-3.0.23d-1
to:
samba-3.0.25b-3

After starting samba, I could no longer connect to any share, I get this
error:
NT_STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND

I builded both samba rpm using the packaging/RHEL/makerpms.sh script
on Centos 4.5

Is there any big change in 3.0.25? I readed all releases notes and
didn't found
any cause for this error.

Thanks
Oliver

Read the release notes and learn about root msdfs (ie reboot your
windows clients after the upgrade).

Re: Roaming profile - Folder redirection - Erase file on server

Maybe a problem with offline files.
Did you disable them?
If not try to do it with gpedit.msc

Mshome "deactived" by samba?

Hi,
I'm setting up openSuse samba on my home network (ethernet) so my linux and
the two winXP machines can file share. The linux machine is also where all
the backups for all the other pc's are stored.

My workgroup is MSHOME. When I start up my winxp pc I can see the linux
machine in My Network Places > Entire Network > Microsoft Windows Network >
MSHOME However, after a few minutes I get the dreaded "MSHOME is not
accessible." message and the linux machine is only accessible via shares
I've mapped on the winxp machine, or the UNC address in windows explorer.

TCP-IP works just fine... I can ping the linux machine and login via SSH. I
have no problems accessing the winxp machine from the linux machine.

Is this a master browser conflict problem?

Windows2000 slow filecopy and ms-dfs

Hello List!

I have found this problem at the lists, and just wanted to add some
experince from my side -- so this is not a "bug report".

After upgrading to 3.0.25a I found file copy from my Windows 2000 PC to
a samba share very slow. The other directions worked fine, as well as
Windows XP and 2003. Digging in the parameters, I have re-enabled the
ms-dfs. This then made copy to samba fast again without any (at least
seeable) side-effects.

As I might not be the only one, this may be worth mentioning in the docs.

Big problem with USERIDs

Hello  <at> list!

I am using Active Direktory + Samba + Winbind to make a fileserver
service about 500 user with many single permissions...

Yesterday we have a big powerbreak and all our servers are shut down and
start again...

After the start I see it all the permissions are corrupt... It looks
like the USERID-USERNAME duble are drift... :(

Here is my smb.conf:

[global]
    realm = xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    workgroup = AFH
    server string = BB-FileServer
    netbios name = B-BALFILE1
    load printers = no
    printing = none
    disable spoolss = yes
    printcap name = /dev/null
    map to guest = Bad User
    password server = xxx.xxx.xxx
    security = ADS
    encrypt passwords = yes
    winbind separator = +
    idmap uid = 10000-20000
    idmap gid = 10000-20000
    winbind enum users = yes

no log on screen when logging into samba shares over vpn

hello everyone,
i have setup my samba shares properly and nicely in my local network, with a
security level of 'user' so that each user can have their home dirs when
logging into the shares.
now im trying to setup the vpn.. so i added in the smb.conf

hosts allow = 192.168.0. 192.168.144. 127. (the localnet, vpn and localhost
respectively)

and

interfaces = 192.168.0.0/24 192.168.144.0/24 (i figured i had to add the 2
subnets here too... right?)

so now if i try to log on remotely over vpn to the samba shares server (the
samba shares (file) server and vpn server are the same machine) i just go to
konqueror
and type in the address field:

smb://<vpn server ip address>/

and i get a list of all the public samba-shared folders... but no logon
screen.. so that id get access to corresponding home dirs too...
any ideas why?

thank you in advance for your help
