Grow Netsukuku

			== Grow Netsukuku ==

Netsukuku is a mesh network.
The mesh networks depend on the collaboration of each node, in fact, a
distributed network can grow only with the small contributions of each user.

Don't expect that someone will set up the whole net for you, just
because Netsukuku is decentralised, anonymous, distributed and independent and
will never allow anyone to control it.

You have the possibility to be the citizen of a free world wide community,
where no one will ever be able to limit your digital rights with measures like
prosecution of file sharing, censorship, data retention, commercial
connectivity and so on.

=== Joining Netsukuku ===

The first step is to turn your PC in a Netsukuku node:
        * take a computer
        * install any distro of GNU/Linux
        * install Netsukuku
        * buy a wifi (PCI) card
        * buy/build an external antenna (with the longest range as possible)
or

It would be cool, if it wasn't illegal here to use unregistered radio
devices at unspecified frequencies (heck, I wonder if my 900MHz home
radio phone is really legal - though it works in maybe 10-15 meters
only). People do try to hack into Bluetooth phones in shops, though, so
maybe 15 meters is legal, and it's 5 floors... But 5 meters (if it's so)
is not enough.

Also cool, but people then could use your connection to send spam or
hack into others' computers.

I have got the last network card, and now have a problem: ANDNA doesn't
work. dig -x doesn't show anything that I recognize as the computer's
domain name. resolv.conf is replaced with one containing 127.0.0.1 and
everything else commented out.

They already do that ;)

Quote from "man andna":
   It is possible to know the list of hostnames _registered_ by a node. You
   have to simply reverse resolve its ip. For example:
	 # dig -x 127.0.0.2

The reverse resolution of your IP shows you the hostnames which has been
already registered. If there are no nodes around you, it is normal to have no
hostnames registered.
Resolv.conf has to be modified to make the ANDNS wrapper work. If you don't touch
the modified version, when NetsukukuD is closed it will be restored from
/etc/resolv.conf.bak.
The other DNS are commented in the modified version just in case of trouble,
in this way you can restore them.

[NTK_RFC 0009] Scattered Name Service Disgregation

			== NTK_RFC 0009 ==
		   http://lab.dyne.org/Ntk_SNSD

Subject: Scattered Name Service Disgregation

----
This text describes the Scattered Name Service Disgregation, an extension of
the ANDNA protocol.
It will be included in the final documentation, so feel free to correct it.
But if you want to change the system here described, please contact us first.
----

== SNSD ==

The Scattered Name Service Disgregation is the generalization of the DNS MX
concept. With the SNSD a hostname can be associated to multiple IPs.
Each assigned IP has a service number, in this way the IPs with the same
service number are grouped in an array.
In the resolution request the client will specify the service number too,
therefore it will get the IP associated to the hostname which has the
specified service number. Example:

The node X has registered the hostname "angelica".
The default IP of "angelica" is 1.2.3.4.
X associates the 11.22.33.44 IP to the `http' service number (80) too.

When the node Y resolves normally "angelica", it gets 1.2.3.4, but when
its web browser tries to resolve it, it asks for the IP associated to
the `http' service, therefore the resolution will return 11.22.33.44.

That could get one banned from their ISP!

If there are only two nodes, will ANDNA not work at all?
