Public Status Page

Is there a way to configure OpenNMS with a public status page so that people
can see the status of the network without having to login/authenticate?

Thanks for coming back to me on this!

More reasons for us to imbed all of OpenNMS in a container such as Jetty, then we won't have this Tomcat dependency problem.  We would of course, continue to support putting the Webapp on a separate Tomcat install.

Re: OpenNMS 1.3.2 on CentOS 4

That would be an excellent idea.  Getting opennms up and running was a snack; all the time went into getting Tomcat 5.5 running with Java 1.5 in what I hoped would be a supportable package (RPMs) to simplify system maintenance.  It'd be nice fro it to be a 'black box' on the distributions so it'd just work.  Perhaps also rolling up the database...

Anyhow it's there now and running nicely; it's a fantastic step up from 1.3.1 - well done to all who pulled this together especially the core team.

RE : Exception in thread "main" org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERREUR: La conversion entre UNICODE et LATIN9 n'est pas supportée

Ok...
It was a mistake form me...

The postgresql was built not as UNICODE standard... because it have installed postgres an build a database with an ISO Latin 9 support...

I have dropped the database path, rebuild a UNICODE database and install of opennms have worked great.

Thanks Yann :D

install problems 1.2.8

Hi,
I'm completely new to opennms, and have been having problems.

The errors I get are

java.io.FileNotFoundException: /usr/share/opennms/etc/include
(Permission denied)

now when I go to said directory and look for the permissions on the file
I see no file of that name, Just a bunch of .xml files and the like, but
the listing goes from groups.xml to java.conf so no include file.

java.io.FileNotFoundException: /usr/share/opennms/etc/destinationPaths.xml (Permission denied)

and others of a similar permission nature.

I installed opennms by using dapper 6.06.1 then adding
http://dapper.opennms.org/ dapper/opennms1.2.8/binary/ to sources.list.
Then running #sudo aptitude install opennms, then following the install
guide. Install was a breeze and a pleasure (In comparison to manually
settling all the dependencies).

How can I see what user opennms is running as and who should I see as
the owner of the files. I suspect the issue may be with the web
UI(tomcat) and the user it is running as.

any pointers?
