Does this help:

https://wiki.opennms.org/tiki-view_faq.php?faqId=4#q35

I've seen something similar on Debian/sarge and I had to install the
tomcat4-webapps package.

Internal error ()

Running opennms v1.1.4-1 on Fedora Core 2 w/ tomcat 4-4.1.18. Today I
did the following:

Logged in as admin
clicked on admin
clicked on Manage SNMP Data Collection per Interface
selected one of my interfaces
changed some of my interface collection settings
clicked update collection

Then I got this:

RE: UnsatisfiedLinkError: librrd.so

I found the "UnsatisfiedLink - no jrrd in java.library.path" error in my web.log file.  It probably is related to the error in my threshd.log file as well.

I've done some searching on the internet, and it leads me to believe that I need to add my /opt/OpenNMS/lib directory to the /var/tomcat4/tomcat4.conf file.  However, I'm no Java programmer , and there aren't any examples of how to do this in the tomcat4.conf file,  Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks again,

Mike

Hey guys!  I'm at it again with another question.  I've looked for other users with similar problems, but they don't seem to have quite the same problem, so I'm posting this one.

Here's my error in my threshd.log file

"Threshd: start: Failed to load thresholder org.opennms.netmgt.threshd.LatencyThresholder for service XXX

java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError:  /opt/OpenNMS/lib/libjrrd.so: librrd.so.0: cannot open shared object file:  No such file or directory.

In my /opt/OpenNMS/lib/ directory I have...

libjrrd.so

libjrrd.so.0 -> libjrrd.so

libjrrd.so.1.2.0 -> libjrrd.so

I'm running OpenNMS 1.2.0-1_fc3 ( Valentine )

Sun's Java  j2sdk1.4.2_04

Tomcat4.4.18-full.1jpp

Fedora Core3 / Intel 32bit

Rrdtool-1.1.0-20040610

Rrdtool-devel-1.1.0-20040610

Rrdtool-perl-1.1.0-20040610

Once again, any light you can shed on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

This is a bug fixed in 1.2.0.

The workaround:

psql -U opennms opennms
update ipinterface set issnmpprimary='N' where issnmpprimary is null;
\q

RE: java errors

It's my own fault for not being more descriptive, but I do have
tomcat4-webapps-4.1.18-full.1jpp installed. Tomcat does start. The only
outages I've seen so far are from the machines configured with snmp, and
that happened when I rebooted the OpenNMS server. I've tried simulating
outages ( ie. turn a desktop off ) and do not see the outage reported. I
think it has to do with two errors I've seen. One says
"java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no jicmp in java.library.path" the other
says " java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no jrrd in java.library.path"
Once I can get past these two errors, I think I will be error free.
Thanks for the tip.
Mike

You can either install tomcat4-webapps, or remove the "tomcat-docs"
context from /etc/tomcat4/server.xml.

Look, I hate to bring this up, and I'd like to help you get OpenNMS up
and running, but ...

Have you read the installation instructions?

http://sourceforge.net/docman/?group_id=4141

We do cover that issue and we even explain why you need to run it as
root *and* we offer a configuration workaround if you don't like it.

Just a thought.
