RE: SNMP Traps - Setup for Recieving

You might want to check through the documentation and FAQ. All the information you need to get OpenNMS up and running is in there, with a little help from the mailing list archives:

Documentation
FAQ
Mailing List Archives (discuss and install are the two you probably want to look through)

Just with a little research, the answers are out there.

Here in faqs http://faq.opennms.org/faq/fom-serve/cache/35.html is written

bring up the OpenNMS administrator gui and select the
'Configure Distributed Pollers' icon. The Distributed Poller
Configuration panel will be displayed. The default poller package
installed with OpenNMS is named "example1". By default, "example1"
is only configured with the ICMP service. To add SNMP to this poller
package, drag and drop 'SNMP' from under the 'Services' pane onto the
'services' folder of the "example1" poller package. The "example1"
poller package is now configured to monitor the SNMP service. In
order to modify the properties of the 'SNMP' service, right-click
on the 'SNMP' service item and click 'properties'. This will
display the 'Modify Services Behavior:SNMP' dialog. From this
dialog it is possible to modify specific attributes of the
   SNMP service monitor.

Well how to bring OpenNMS administrator gui up ??? Is it same OpenNMS Web Console ??

Regards

Rahul D.

Either run Tomcat as root, or set the ownership / permissions on the
/opt/OpenNMS/etc/ directory so that user tomcat4 can write to the files
there.

Has anyone applied Preview Version 1.1.3 yet?

Does anyone have comments on this Preview Version?

Can I Apply the Webapp for 1.1.3 & still use the core for 1.1.2? or do I have to load both the RPMs for 1.1.3?

Collectd.log error

Newbie Redhat9 user here. I am hoping someone knows how to help me
with an error I am seeing in collectd.log. I believe this is the
reason nothing is being created in the /var/opennms/rrd/snmp
directory, thus keeping me from getting SNMP up and going. I have
not been able to find anything on the opennms site regarding this
error.	Any direction is greatly appreciated! I am running a fresh
install of the latest Redhat9 kernel along with java 1.4.2_03 and all
services are working fine. Please let me know if anyone needs any
other information. Here is the error:

Tomcat Ver 4.1.8 vs Ver 4.0.3 for OpenNMS 1.1.2

Server = Redhat 9

OpenNMS = 1.1.2

Please Help

I am trying to get Tomcat 4.1.8 installed on Redhat 9 to support OpenNMS ver 1.1.2 using the rpm I find on

ftp://ftp.opennms.org/pub/releases/OpenNMS/1.1/linux-i386-redhat-9/RPMS/

tomcat4-4.1.18-full.1jpp.noarch.rpm

tomcat4-webapps-4.1.18-full.1jpp.noarch.rpm

But cant get them to work, & cant find the proper documentation to configure it

-------------------------------------

I have installed Tomcat ver 4.0.3 found on

ftp://ftp.opennms.org/pub/releases/OpenNMS/1.0/linux-i386-redhat-9/RPMS/

tomcat4-4.0.3-0.onms.12.noarch.rpm

tomcat4-manual-4.0.3-0.onms.12.noarch.rpm

tomcat4-webapps-4.0.3-0.onms.12.noarch.rpm

It goes on without any issue and can access the main tomcat pages at http://69.54.64.127:8080

If I install opennms-webapp-1.1.2-1.i386.rpm using the ‘–nodeps’ option, most of the web apps work, but some (like the event pages) don’t work.

I have a feeling it is because of the Tomcat version is not up to Min Requirements.

Can anyone help me to figure out how to upgrade Tomcat, or send me the necessary config files/modifications for Tomcat 4.1.8 to make it work.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Mike Wilson

Re: Tomcat Ver 4.1.8 vs Ver 4.0.3 for OpenNMS 1.1.2

Try and try again - read the manuals and the FAQs and in a week or so,
you'll have it running... It can work - really!

The important things are to use the right version of Java 1.4.0_02 and
to kill the UTF8 bug: /etc/sysconfig/i18n delete all references to
UTF8. After that the lynx install script should work.
