Can't figure out how to monitor custom SNMP MIB.

Hi all,
         Despite my taking the OpenNMS training class and reading the
wiki on and off for the last few weeks, I just can't seem to figure
out how to monitor and graph an SNMP entry. I got all the unix /
netSNMP stuff working fine (little custom Oracle script that checks
the listener and rdbms) and can query the mib from the command line on
the OpenNMS server, no problem. Just can't find any solid clues on
how to set up OpenNMS to interrogate and graph it. Is there a concise
howto, perhaps with step by step instructions and examples, that I'm
missing?

thx
jake

"Unable to relay for 94723252052 <at> sms.domain"

You need to contact the person that administers your e-mail and discuss it with them. It appears to be a mail relay issue.

Re: unable to send email notification to 94723252052 <at> sms.domain address in opennms

Hi,
that's probably not to solve in OpenNMS; please check with your mail
server admin people how they handle this mail to sms interface. It
looks as if they rewrite those at some point.
If you understand how it works, or if they help you, you certainly get
it to work.

best
Alex

Dao+LDAP authentication with 1.7.8 and spring security

Hi Brett, all,

I'm trying to configure LDAP authentication with OpenNMS 1.7.8 and spring security.

I already followed http://www.opennms.org/wiki/Spring_Security_and_LDAP but have some issues to solve.

First, if you use ONLY ldap, all your RTC-Calls will be authenticated against LDAP, something my server
collegues didn't like (there might be quite a lot of calls!), so I configured it in 1.6.x like this:

<bean id="authenticationManager" class="org.acegisecurity.providers.ProviderManager">
    <property name="providers">
      <list>
        <ref local="daoAuthenticationProvider"/>
        <ref local="ldapAuthenticationProvider"/>
        <ref local="anonymousAuthenticationProvider"/>
      </list>
    </property>
  </bean>

This way authentication first tries local users (including my admin user, I want to be able to work even when
the LDAP server is down / unreachable... - those are the moments when you really need your network management).
If the user isn't found in the local configuration it tries LDAP. This works perfectly in 1.6.x

With spring I could't figure out how to define this. I tried different ways to chain the methods, but
probably due to my limited knowledge of spring didn't success:

 <authentication-provider user-service-ref="ldapAuthProvider">
     <password-encoder ref="upperCaseMd5PasswordEncoder" />
   </authentication-provider>

   <authentication-provider user-service-ref="openNMSUserDetailsService">
     <password-encoder ref="upperCaseMd5PasswordEncoder" />
   </authentication-provider>

are the two definitions which work each one for himself, but not together, so the first question is: how do I
have to define this to get the same behaviour as in 1.6.x?

Thanks

-Michael

(next question will be in next mail ;-))

Opennms Notification exclusion

Hey All,

I may have just been searching using the wrong words, but I can't seem to find out how to NOT send email notifications when certain interfaces go down on switches. Can anyone tell me how to do this or point me to a URL that contains this info?

conditional notifications and events

How can I add a condition to a notification or event?
For example I have a oid that I am monitoring as a service but when snmp goes down on the node every oid based service sends out a notification as well which is annoying since snmp is down.  I would like to add a condition that says

if (isSNMPup == true)
send oid based service down notification

thanks,
Corey Osman

availability report has period in the future

Hi,

Despite defining an ending date of 2010-30-1 the reports show me data from :

For Period : June 01, 2011 - June 01, 2012

Any reason why this is off by a few years.
