[opennic-discuss] New UK Public Access DNS Server

For those who may be interested to give it a battering, there is a new
UK Public Access DNS server *under test*. Details here:

   http://opennic.org.uk/wiki/doku.php/wiki:tier2

It does not use the standard OpenNIC zone configuration as detailed
here,

   http://opennic.org.uk/wiki/doku.php/wiki:tier2

nor does it use BIND 9!

As I said, it is still being worked on, so all feedback, brickbats
especially, gratefully received.

Cheers,

Chris.

[opennic-discuss] Mailing List

Hello,

I've been getting an unusual amount of messages from address not
subscribed to the list, lately. Current ML policy only allows
subscribed addresses to post to the list; please keep this in mind when
composing new messages.

Also, the web site is directing visitors to send 'subscribe' commands to
the list, rather than to the majordomo <at> alias. Can someone correct this?

Thanks,
Aaron

Re: [opennic-discuss] Mailing List

Additionally, maybe it should also be the case that..

- Messages sent to the list from non-subscribed addresses received
an appropriate response. Filtered UCE excepted

- Messages sent to the list from subscribed addresses received an
appropriate response when the list is temporarily inactive.

- A friendly web-face implemented:

    http://www.siliconexus.com/MajorCool/

to bring the OpenNIC list in-line with other programs of the same
   ilk, e.g. GNU Mailman.

The latter action has been suggested many times previously. The OpenNIC
is supposedly all about 'choice'. So make it easy on both existing and
new users.. give it to 'em!

Regards,

Chris.

RE: [opennic-discuss] Mailing List

I think the web interface is nice. Either that or use mailman ;). Just my 2 cents :)

While we are on the subject of mailing lists ..

Why not sign up to 'dns-operations'? The usual blank subject'ed email
to

    majorodomo <at> lists.opennicproject.org

with,

   subscribe dns-operations

in the main body, will do it

Then maybe we can give you a hand to get ns3.opennic.glue un-broken
once more? I seem to be the only one still resolving .bbs from an
old copy of the zone files,

   http://opennic.org.uk/scripts/
