Re: VOTE: Inclusion of new top level domains

Hmm that's odd. I was trying to follow a link on digg to a .biz domain
the other day, and it wouldn't resolve. I'll have to check into this
some more.

Echnaton reverse Cesdian-Root Domain Observatory

Happy New Year

This list is to show the domains of the Cesidian Root.. You could use this
list to change the ICANN root into the Cesidian Root. You can use this
list to add the TLDs from the Cesidian Root to OpenNic.

If your mailer knows the Cesidian Root, you can send me emails to

peter <at> mail.5wc

Cheers

There may be other working domains/TLDs I'm simply not aware of, but it seems that the .GLUE, .FUR, .PARODY, and .GEEK TLDs have at least one or more working domains.

Would you be interested in activating these TLDs, and others that may be currently working in the OpenNIC, also in the Cesidian Root? The Cesidian Root's URL:

The Cesidian Root is a full-fledged root that came into being with the fall of the Public-Root. We are a tiny, baby-sized root, but we are up-to-date on all ICANN-IANA TLDs, including the latest .CAT TLD, and we also support 10 unique Fifth World TLDs: .TTF, .TALLINI, .BUCKSFAN, .BUCRAFAN, .CESIDIO, .5WC, .SAVOIA, .ITALIANA, .UNIVERSITY, and .AMORE. We have at least one working domain for each of these TLDs at this moment.

All our TLDs were legitimately purchased when they were part of the Public-Root, so be aware that the rights of the .AMORE TLD are the property of TTF-Bucksfan, a Fifth World cyberstate, not New.net! You can check who the owner of the .AMORE TLD is, as well as of all the TLDs above, at the Public-Root Whois here:

We would love it if the OpenNIC accepted all of the 10 Fifth World TLDs mentioned above in its root, and the interesting domains connected with them, and we would also be willing to accept all working OpenNIC TLDs in the Cesidian Root. This would make our roots as independent as they are now, and yet they would still carry the same inclusive namespace content, establishing a de facto new non-commercial inclusive namespace standard. I think this would be a good thing for both the Cesidian Root and the OpenNIC.

Despite its size, the Cesidian Root is also quite sophisticated, since we also run email services at our original mail.ttf and mail.5wc Cesidian domains. Any answer to this email goes both to 5wcmail <at> gmail.com and to the ttf <at> mail.5wc email addresses. The first is a standard Gmail email address (ICANN root), while the second in a Cesidian Root email address. We can also provide help to get OpenNIC fully updated with all recent ICANN-IANA TLDs.

Please understand that the Cesidian Root is not a US corporation, or the corporation of any State unless you consider the cyber entity TTF-Bucksfan a State (we are a "mom-and-pop" State, I guess), and the Cesidian Root is a de facto unincorporated entity without a EIN. I run this root with the help of 3 brilliant ITs who manage the root directly, and/or provide state-of-the-art technical support. Two of the people working with me are former Public-Root techs that kept its almost 3,000 TLDs in perfect working order, and all 3 of my helpers have experience working with root servers, as well as additional technical experiences.

The informal mission of the Cesidian Root is to keep the alternative root alive and well, kicking like a healthy and happy baby, and in the wake of the Public-Root's fall from grace we wish to ensure technical perfection for all alternative roots out there that exist as a public service, not as for-profit entities. The Public-Root was destroyed by greedy profiteers, so we will only support nonprofits, idealists in the DNS arena. While we are willing to work with decent governments and companies if given the opportunity with specific TLDs (we are contacting a few currently for this purpose), we exist primarily to serve good and decent human beings, who believe the Internet should be an area free from government or big business interference/monopolization.

Please let me know if you are interested in this kind of informal partnership, which benefits both the Cesidian Root and the OpenNIC, and please provide us with an email, or couple of email addresses of people we can contact in order to get the OpenNIC working like the technical masterpiece it should be. Thank you.

Re: InterRoot Informal Partnership?

As far as I can tell, they currently have a single tier-1 server and two
tier-2 servers. I've been reading through some of their websites and
think their idea of custom TLD's is similar to ours. I would have no
objection to adding their information to OpenNic's tld-root file.

Cesidio - I'm not sure what access is normally giving in peering
arrangements between alternate root providers, but I would ask for
access to a complete list of all domains registered under 5wc. This
could be either a flat text file which could be accessed daily, or
authorization to perform axfr queries from your DNS servers. Since I
run a search engine at http://grep.geek I would need access to download
or generate such a list from which the search engine would perform
nightly indexing, and thus remain completely up to date with ALL domains
available from 5wc/OpenNic members.

For what it's worth, the following is all that we need to add to
tld-root to provide full access to 5wc's zones. They would probably
need something similar to access OpenNic.

Re: InterRoot Informal Partnership?

Jeff,

Believe it or not, but Peter has already added the OpenNIC TLDs to the Cesidian Root, and there is nothing wrong with that, but I'm also wondering whether he added all those AlterNIC and PacRoot nameservers, which if I'm not mistaken, are no longer responding? So now all your TLDs should probably go live on our root within 24-48 hours, I guess.

I'm not sure what is normally involved with peering arrangements between independent roots either, but I will pass this email on to the Cesidian Root's 3 techs, and I'll see what they are willing to do. Certainly having a working search engine is definitely a plus we don't have at the moment. I run a Fifth World Search, but it is strictly ICANN stuff, and it would be nice to have something show the content of the inclusive namespace as well.

I wonder if emails between the two roots are possible. Mmm....

Cesidio

Re: InterRoot Informal Partnership?

Hi Cesidio,

so far I have only added the geek domain to echnaton. But I want to add all
the active domains. Most of the work will be done by Massimiliano. As soon
as we have them in the root you can send email to OpenNic.

Right now it is difficult to read your domains. We should ask Missimiliano
to allow "dig axfr".

Cheers and a Happy New Year

I stand corrected

Okay Folks, I stand corrected.  :-)

So far .geek has been added to Echnaton, Peter's experimental root.

Hi Cesidio,

so far I have only added the geek domain to echnaton. But I want to add all
the active domains. Most of the work will be done by Massimiliano. As soon
as we have them in the root you can send email to OpenNic.

Right now it is difficult to read your domains. We should ask Missimiliano
to allow "dig axfr".

Cheers and a Happy New Year
