ns1.co.us.opennic.glue temporarily down

Sorry folks, I've been getting absolutely flooded with lame server
requests here for the last few days (weeks?). I blocked 216.87.84.209
from internet queries for now, but after we do the pumpkin chunkin on
the 8th, I'll have time to work on a script to rate-limit all these bot
queries, and bring the server back online for public usage again.

Have I asked before about rate-limiting DNS queries? Anyone found an
easy solution for this?

Re: OT: The Public-Root full disclosure

Joe Baptista?  The guy who forged emails to slander people on the OpenNIC list?

He has done the same on other lists, and admits it:
http://www.dnso.org/clubpublic/ga/Arc02/msg00792.html

This might get you some interesting info as well:

http://www.google.com/search?hs=Iji&hl=en&lr=&safe=off&c2coff=1&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial_s&q=Joe+Baptista+loon&btnG=Search

In my opinion, and not that of OpenNIC or the list, anything written or compiled by Joe Bapista is likely to be a crock of shit.

And lost on account of Godwin's Law, it seems, as well. That alone gives
him as much credibility in my book as the Weekly World News.

Ye old audit page on opennic.geek?

Up until early this year when I picked up .geek, there was a page on
opennic.geek that was available for effectively debugging the nameservers.
Has anyone managed to reestablish this script? I'm thinking I'm in need
of a good debug over here at ns12.

Thanks,
-Dennis

Re: ns1.co.us.opennic.glue temporarily down

All right, I got a round tuit faster than I thought I would. New bash
script in place which is putting a damper on the abusive traffic. It's
still not pretty, but the server is available online again, and can
handle the limited traffic that is still getting through to it.

If anyone is specifically using my dns services and finds they can no
longer connect, please let me know so I can whitelist your IP.

Would you kindly post this as my reply. Robin <krystal <at> devnull.net>
should know better then to slander my name. In any case I don't have time
to respond to any of his specific nonsense conerning me. ts obvious that
Robin an the OpenNIC as usual are missing the bigger picture here.

It is just this sort of bury your head in the sand attitude which has
resulted in this mess. Why does he not just look at the press releases -
on either my site or INAICs. Do your homework boys and stop living in a
lala universe.

What akes me laught is the fact anyone who looks into this nonsense
suddenly goes quiet with fear. Its all real. Once you dig deep enough
you find alot of problems. Critical to us is solving them.

Do you due dillegence Robin - because if he don't he'll end up looking
like the Government of Turkey and Tiscali - a fool in the company of
fools.

The community has to pull together to solve the public-root delima - and
it is a delima to the alt and inclusive namespace communities. But we'll
save that till another day.
