I believe on BSD, it's something like this:
rdr pass on ext0 proto udp from any to 12.217.179.55 port 53 -> 12.217.179.55 port 32821

Can't confirm though, since I don't packet filter like that yet on my
OpenBSD box. Just the example from man pf.conf :)

Members' Forum is (finally) back

Rhonda (one of the Scoop experts) was kind enough to repair the Scoop
installation, so we now have a functioning web forum again.

Thanks, Rhonda!

Cheers,

IP change for ns1.la.us.opennic.glue

Hello everyone,

I've had to move ns1.la.us.opennic.glue. The new IP is 68.15.165.12

In other news, I've fixed the MySQL error at jkportal.geek.

broken SOA records

Hello.

The authoritative name server for "oss", as defined by the SOA record,
is unresolvable (dns.translator.cx), and the authoritative name server
for "parody" (ns-1.ghostwheel.com) returns NXDOMAIN for anything related
to that TLD.

Is that normal? Is that going to be fixed?

Re: broken SOA records

Bad; very bad.

Could Chris and Mooneer post a quick reply to let us know what's up?

In the event that either of them have dropped off the net and we have
to move those TLDs, I have the following copies of those zones on my
servers:

	parody	2004040303
	oss 2003112401

Does anyone have a more recent zone file (just in case)?

Re: broken SOA records

Erk...

Looks like I missed that one when I moved my servers.

parody has been restored on ns-1.ghostwheel.com, not that it really matters as
it has no registrations... If someone does want to take it over I will
happily assist in getting it to someone who can nurture it into something
worth laughing about.

hmmm

errr, awile ago you said the cron script is ready to run again (since you
got the bugs out of it or whatever) and yeah, again, the serial has
changed on the root servers but not the opennic roots, so yeah, it should
be updated again (or cron'd) because yeah, who knows what changees they've
done (also, for new users of opennic, if the serial is less than the ones
the IANA roots are serving, their nameservers will still have the cache of
the IANA roots for the . zone and not use the opennic root well, it wont
at first atleast :)

It appears that many of the tier 1 servers and tier 2 servers are either
incorrectly configured (http://jharris.rallycentral.us/opennic.html and
http://www.opennic.geek/status/) or they aren't being maintained. It makes
me wonder if opennic is dying.

I'm personally trying to figure out if relying on outdated/misconfigured/
nonrunning servers for a tiny fraction of the internet is worth it.

Re: broken SOA records

Well, I know it's got at least one since I have smurf.parody. ;-)

There's a posting on the newly restored Forum about the .oss issue,
with a volunteer.

(I can tell you, now that I've looked through the list's bounce
archives, that Mooneer is no longer receiving email from this list
since his address is bouncing).
