New TLD

I am proposing two new TLD's which I will administrate.
TLD INET
General Internet TLD, for any internet use.
Restrictions:
a-z.inet restricted for core services.
*dns*.inet is discouraged, but may be approved.
ns*.inet is discouraged, but may be approved.

TLD IX
I am proposing this TLD for Internet eXchange services.
Restrictions:
This TLD would be for any internet service or exchange, such as email, web, DNS, IRC, etc...

I am providing a 100mbit Tier 1 server for these TLD's, ns1.miracle1.net and ns2.miracle1.net
Any questions or comments please email me, matrix <at> miracle1.net

NIC Handle: J_M10

Thanks,
Jeremy

Re: New TLD

The only comment that I have concerning this is that ".inet" may be confused with the existing gTLD of ".net"
otherwise it sounds as if you have everything in order.

Re: New TLD

I think this is only a minor drawback, I think that OpenNIC needs more
general purpose TLDs.

Why?
I see a lot of people these days saying OpenNIC needs more generic TLDs.
However, no one has actually backed it up with a reason, they state it
as a truism. Is there a reason why .null is insufficient? Is there a
problem with not having our own personal equivalents of .com, .net, and
.org?

I do hear people sometimes talking about "choice". I wonder though, how
is the choice between several identical options with different names
inherently better than just one? All I've seen it do in the legacy root
is compel a lot of companies to register 3 domains instead of 1.

.null and .geek along with the other TLD zones are said to be for a specific
use or purpose only, I am attempting to make an 'open' TLD.

RE: New TLD

<MY-TWO-BITS>
It's a matter of objectives.

If we are going to be an "alternative root", then wouldn't it make sense to
have "common" alternatives? What we have now is a bunch of very good, but
very niche, TLDs. A generic-ish TLD could be a catalyst toward more general
interest.

If everyone else is manufacturing "shampoo", and you decided that you wanted
to manufacture it, but only for people with "red hair", then you will have a
problem attracting general interest.

Obviously, you don't want it to be too similar, but you definitely need
alternatives that could be used, rather than the collection of good, but
niche, TLDs we have now.

Re: New TLD

I am not trying to choose a TLD to be that similar, I just want to create
more generic TLDs to attract more intrest and users in OpenNIC, the ones we
have now are very niche, limited to certian interest groups.

VueDig reports that a .inet TLD already exists on pacroot's servers. I don't have time right now to look
further into it... you may want to investigate.

I would, however, support the creation of a "general use" TLD in OpenNIC.

.ix is not possible, as all two-letter TLDs are reserved for country codes.

Re: New TLD

There is nothing about a .inet in our (OpenNIC's) peering with them.
I also propose to change my request for .IX (country code restrictions) to
.itx (Internet Transer Zone)
Because .inet seems widely accepted by our members would someone like to
start a formal vote?

What's up with that, Bradley (or Abraham)? ;-)
