Error when building nfdump on Ubuntu 8 server

Hi,

I'm trying to install nfdump-snapshot-1.5.7-20080815 on a fresh install
of Ubuntu 8 (2.6.24-19-server). After running 'make' I get the attached
errors. I run configure with
 ./configure --enable-nfprofile --prefix=/data/netflow/nfdump
When I run the configure without '--enable-nfprofile' it compiles
without any problem.

What am I doing wrong (previous similar installs on Gentoo systems
compiled without any problem)?

Any help is appreciated,

Koen

Re: Error when building nfdump on Ubuntu 8 server

Hi Koen,
That's a bug in the snapshot:

Replace "Insert_Extension_Map(map)" with "Insert_Extension_Map(&extension_map_list, map)"

at nfdup.c:618, nfprofile.c:271 and nfreplay:343

Please note, that this is development quality software!

Re: php-sessions

Hi Tor,
For security reason, some of the parameters are stored in the session to prevent arbitrary calls.

I'll contact you off list for a solution.

Works like a charm! Thanks for the quick response.

nfsen on CentOS

I have been running nfsen on Fedora Core 5 for 6 months now without a
hitch.
We will be upgrading/moving to CentOs soon.
Are there any major issues to look out for?

Thank you,

Alban

Re: Events plugin MySQL connection and performance problems

Hello Rauno,

I read your mail earlier, but I wanted to take some time to look into
it. This caused me to keep postponing the answer, I'm sorry for that. In
return, you'll get a rather lengthy reply ;)

MySQL "request quit" command. I traced it out with wireshark.

after that appear the following messages to the log:

Converting RRD files

Hello,

We're currently moving our netflow collector from one machine to
another. Unfortunately they don't have the same architecure. We're
moving from x86_64 (Gentoo) with rrdtool 1.2.27 to a non-64 bit (Ubuntu)
with rrdtool 1.2.19.

After moving the datafiles from nfdump to the new location I get this
message in the logs:
Nov 22 19:30:15 nf nfsen[29459]: Error GenGraph: Profile:
PtP_sourcetraffic, packets-day: This RRD was created on other
architecture at /data/netflow/nfsen/libexec/NfSenRRD.pm line 346.

Clearly this is because of rrdtool running on different architectures.
Did anyone else experience this and know a good way to "migrate" the
data from one architecture to another? I know you can export the data to
xml and then import it on another machine but I'm afraid that doing this
for all rrdfiles in all profiles is not realy doable.

Any hints or suggestions?

Thanks,

Koen

Re: Converting RRD files

We had the same issue and unfortunately all we came up with was to export on
the old architecture and import on the new. Sorry :(

You could probably script it to run thru all your files if you have a lot.
