See http://www.net-snmp.org/docs/README.osX.html

Also, 5.2.1 will not start properly on Tiger and is a known issue and I
was told should be fixed "shortly".

I'd check the access control settings.

If the agent receives an unauthorized SNMPv1 GETNEXT
request (such as from a walk), it may well struggle
to find a suitable value to return. If the snmpwalk
command resends these requests (the first request
having timed out), that just makes the problem worse.

There may be another cause in this case, but that's
probably the most likely.

SMASH

Hi!

Has anybody worked with SMASH by Harrie Hazewinkel ?

I've problems with adding mibs to it. Or maybe with getting variables
from this newly added mibs. I

P.S.: Sorry for offtopic, but unfortunatelly there's no special mailing
list for SMASH.

Trap generation using Net-SNMP APIs

Hi,

I have to implement Trap generation in C++. Can someone guide me in this regard? I have gone through the Net-SNMP APIs. But I am not able to figure out how to use them for the same purpose.

Thanks & Regards,

You could write to Harrie directly. (though he used to read this list
as well, though I don't know if he's still on it).

You could look at apps/snmptrap.c to see how it does things.

Is the column name displayed properly? If not, you probably don't have
the mibs actually being loaded. In which case, you might read this:

RE: net-snmp: table_array refresh

Hi Robert,
Any info on this? I am currently using Netsnmp v5.0.9 and can't use
stale cache method available in 5.2.1.

Even if I am using iterate, and if I try to populate data in
get_firstXXX routine, it would call the data gather function for each
request, and in a get_next scenario, this is not efficient.

Regards,
Geo

Subject: net-snmp: table_array refresh

Hi all,
I have developed a sub agent using netsnmp. One of the tables is
implemented using array_user.conf, which polls and updates the table
periodically. It works fine in that scenario.

Now, if I want to disable polling and want to return fresh data on a get
request, can I call my data fetch routine, on each GET request arrival?
I know Iterate.conf code can do that.

If it is possible, which function to override?

Thanks,
Geo

I thought sending SIGHUP to the agent would cause it to re-read its config.
that seems to work for me.
