Yes, the Alpha/Tru64/FreeBSD/MacOSX guru confirmed that he didn't check 
the warnings, there were so many because of the redefinition of malloc.

This is not critical, these error messages (the ones in the code, not 
the warnings) are printed when things are going very very wrong, and in 
this case the status information is almost useless. BTW, gcc does not 
warn it by default.
Nevertheless, the CVS has been fixed and the tarball discretely updated 
yesterday

Hi,
It compiles and works fine, except that previously the
mpirun.ch_gm script used to add a "change directory"
to the ssh command, to execute the program remotely
in the current directory. Now it's excecuted in the
HOME directory. Is this a mistake ?
Anyway, I added myself a "cd $pwd" into the mpirun.ch_gm.pl
file.

Yes.

The tarball has been updated this morning with this fix, and also a flag
to set the working directory to be something else than pwd ("-wd").
You can look in mpid/ch_gm/CHANGES for the additions.

Sorry for the delay, I have been fighting all day yesterday with my new
laptop and backups.

[Myrinet] MPICH-GM error: "msg packet discarded (gmpi_priv.c:905)"

Dear Myrinet-List,

on our cluster of dual Athlon machines with Myrinet2000 interconnect, I 
have installed the following:
Kernel 2.4.18
gm-1.5.1_Linux
mpich-1.2.4..8a

On starting our application with mpirun.ch_gm, the following error 
occurs frequently (but not always) around the call to MPI_Initialize:

[2] Internal error: msg packet discarded (gmpi_priv.c:905)

Does anyone experienced the same or knows about the reason for this? Any 
help is very much appreciated!

How many nodes in the job ? If you run a minimum MPI code (Init and
Finalize), can you reproduce the problem ?

This error message means that a message was received but does not look
like a valid MPI message (message type code is unknown).
