MRTG not graphing data

I am running MRTG to log error hits on our T1’s here – or at least that is what I am trying to do.

The log file shows the most recent SNMP get value on the top line, but (other than the timestamps), the other lines are all showing zero’s.

Relevant snippet from the cfg file:

Target[plym-8xds1_1]: ifInErrors.1&ifOutErrors.1:altaris <at> plym-8xds1

SetEnv[plym-8xds1_1]: MRTG_INT_IP="" MRTG_INT_DESCR="T1 1/1 Errors"

MaxBytes[plym-8xds1_1]: 100

Title[plym-8xds1_1]: Plymouth 8xds1 line 1 error counts

PageTop[plym-8xds1_1]: <H1>plym-8xds1 error counts</H1>

 <TABLE>

   <TR><TD>System:</TD>     <TD>plym-8xds1</TD></TR>

   <TR><TD>Maintainer:</TD> <TD>Ron Gage</TD></TR>

   <TR><TD>Description:</TD><TD>T1 1/1  </TD></TR>

   <TR><TD>ifType:</TD>     <TD>ppp (23)</TD></TR>

   <TR><TD>ifName:</TD>     <TD>t1 1/1</TD></TR>

   <TR><TD>Max Speed:</TD>  <TD>10 errors</TD></TR>

 </TABLE>

I can do an SNMPGET and/or SNMPWALK from the same server and can see the values there.

The graphs being generated from MRTG show absolutely no data whatsoever (flatline), even though separate monitoring is showing some of these counters increasing on occasion.

HELP!

The underlying SNMP GET request failed due to misconfiguration or network
service interruption. Is it a one-time or repeating error?

Check the SNMP agent's logs on the remote host 10.24.50.2 ~BAS

This is a very slowly incrementing counter. Try options perminute?

Re: MRTG not graphing data

 If there is no change in the counter the delta will always be zero and
thus flatline. If the delta changes due to errors being reported on the
interface you should see a change.

Re: mrtg error message

You will also see this on devices whose interface/target is normally up,
but was down when MRTG went to get the information. A common example
for me is my user (access) switches. If the user shuts their system
down at night (or unplugs their notebook from the network), when MRTG
runs it will produce the error for that port (Target).
