IP aliasing / multiple network interfaces

Dear list members,

I am using mrtg 2.14.3 on a Debian (testing) Server. SNMPD is installed as
well.

The machine has 64 IP addresses and the interfaces are named eth0, eth0:1,
eth0:2, eth0:3, etc. Is it possible to set up mrtg to monitor all these
interfaces? My goal is to generate monthly (and daily) traffic statistics
for each IP address.

I've already tried to find some info about mrtg together with ip
aliasing/multiple interfaces but as I am quite the mrtg newbie, I haven't
found anything usefull yet. Some instructions would be very much
appreciated.

Thank you very much for your efforts,

Stefan

Box migration issue

Hi,

I've been running MRTG + RRDTOOL under Windows for some time now without any
problems. I recently had to move the installation to another box, so I used
the latest versions of all the programs involved.
I copied all of the config files from one server to the other and now I see
that the RRDs are not being updated. Using the -logging option in MRTG I get
the following error:

Can't find string terminator ")" anywhere before EOF at (eval 14) line 1

The software used is:

Old server:
MRTG 2.11.1
RRDTOOL 1.0.49
ActivePerl 5.8.6.811
Windows 2000 SP4

New server:
MRTG 2.14.4
RRDTOOL 1.2.10
Active Perl 5.8.8.817
Windows 2000 SP4

Any ideas? I found that only a very few people had this issue and couldn't
find any solution to it.

Thanks in advance.

routers2.cgi and apache authentication

Hello,
   I am using routers2.cgi with mrtg. I am running Apache 2.2.0. I
enabled authentication for the entire document directory and now when I
access routers2.cgi it keeps prompting the username and password for each
graphic load. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Thanks for any
information.

This could mean that you've not set the authentication up correctly with
the same realm on all directories (and in any case, you only *really*
need to have authentication set on the routers2.cgi script) or else
(more likely) you have a time synch problem between your web server and
browser. Auth cookies can have times set, so make sure your web server
and client both have the clocks set right.

RRDs object version.

Hi All,
I am trying to implement MRTG for my company. We have RHEL 4 AS and I have
installed the following to implement MRTG:

mrtg-2.13.2.tar.gz
rrdtool-1.2.13-1.el4.rf.i386.rpm and perl-rrdtool-1.2.13-1.el4.rf.i386.rpm.

I can see the MRTG generated graphs fine but the problem appears when I use
the LogFormat: rrdtool in .cfg file then i can see the following error in
mrtg.log

" RRDs object version 1.2014 does not match bootstrap parameter 1.2013 at
/usr/lib/perl5/5.8.5/i386-linux-thread-multi/DynaLoader.pm line 253."
Same appears when i do:

perl -e 'use RRDs; print "Ver ".$RRDs::VERSION."\n";'

I also tried to use mrtg-2.14.4.tar.gz and compiled rrdtool.tar.gz(1.2.15)
but got the same error except for the "bootstrap parameter 1.2015"

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks,

You have two versions of the RRDtool libraries installed -- 1.2014 and
1.2013. Unfortunately, you are using the RRDs.pm version 1.2013 but it
isloading the v1.2014 rrds.so library, hence the mismatch. This is
probably due to the order of your <at> INC path in Perl.

What you need to do is to remove all instances of the 2.013 (preferably,
ALL RRDtool perl libraries) and reinstall.

Look for files RRDs.pm and rrds.so under /usr/lib/perl5 and also under
/usr/local and anywhere else you may have installed RRDTool.

find /usr/local /usr/lib/perl5 -name 'RRDs.*' -print

You might find more than one version of each of them, hence the problem.
We have:

/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5/i386-linux-thread-multi/RRDs.pm
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/RRDs/RRDs.so
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/RRDs/RRDs.bs
/usr/local/rrdtool-1.0.50/man/man1/RRDs.1
/usr/local/rrdtool-1.0.50/doc/RRDs.txt
/usr/local/rrdtool-1.0.50/html/RRDs.html

(not counting old stuff in the src directory). You might have things in
a different subdirectory of site_perl, or under
/usr/local/rrdtool-*/lib/perl
