I had the exact same problem as the previous user.  I added the LoadMIBs
line to the the included cfg file.

However, I still have some issues.

1.	You mentioned that the parser only read v1 mibs, I need the
UCD-SNMP-MIB and its v2, and there are several examples using v2 mibs so
having problems with this.

2.  I no longer receive any errors stating "Unknown SNMP var
ssCpuRawUser.0" from mrtg after fixing the LoadMIBs line, but my graphs
still flatline at zero.  Is this related to the v2 mib issue, if so, how
can I get around this.  I tried using just the straight numeric OID's
but I still get zeros, and no errors.  I can snmpget the values just
fine, even with a -v 1 switch or plain OID.

I haven't kept up on the snmp_utils development, but last I checked it
did not know how to parse certain snmp v2 features and would die.

This does not forbid mrtg from using snmp v2, only from parsing mibs
written in the V2 format.

No, it is related to the options[]: statement.  You need to add "guage"
for items that go up and down on their own (as opposed to monotonically
increasing counters)

Linksys WAP54G

Hi all,
Was wondering if anyone here is using mrtg to monitor a Linksys WAP54G
wireless router. When I snmp walk the device , it only gives me the
following information:

SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = STRING: Linux (none) 2.4.20 #2126 Thu Apr 8
17:13:48 CST 2004 mips
SNMPv2-MIB::sysObjectID.0 = OID: NET-SNMP-MIB::netSnmpAgentOIDs.10
DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (52623385) 6 days,

SNMPv2-MIB::sysContact.0 = STRING: serveradmin
SNMPv2-MIB::sysName.0 = STRING: sfap
SNMPv2-MIB::sysLocation.0 = STRING: middle

And nothing else. How do I tell the router to send me all of its MIB
information ? This is all the information the router gives me if I use the
read or the read-write strings specified in the gui coniguration page.

As always, any help is greatly appreciated ....

MRTG RPM

I installed mrtg on fedora core 4 from package mrtg-2.11.1-3.rpm, but I
haven't seen an newer rpms yet and I was wondering when a new one would
come out.  I had a horrible time installing it on SLES and could only get
it to install on Fedora Core 4, so I want to keep with the RPM package.  I
think compiling my own build would be over my head at this point.

I'd use its srpm and build a new rpm using its spec file. AFAIK Fedora 
won't provide a newer version -- it is about to be transferred to Fedora 
Legacy.

That is a bit obscure to someone who doesn't think they can build it
from source.

Here are more complete instructions....

* install the mrtg srpm from the Fedora Core 4 distribution.
  That will put a number of files in your build root.  Usually, that
is /usr/src/RPM.
* download the most recent tarball
(http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/pub/mrtg-2.14.4.tar.gz)
* if the old tarball in /usr/src/RPM/SOURCES was bzip'ed instead of
gzip'ed, then you will need to gunzip the file, and then bzip2 it.  It
would then be mrtg-2.14.4.tar.bz2
* Put the new (gzip|bzip2) tarball in /usr/src/RPM/SOURCES
* Edit /usr/src/RPM/SPECS/mrtg.spec  and change the %Version to 2.14.4.
If you also want snmp v3 support, you will need to add a line like:
Requires:       Perl-Net-SNMP

Trying to use kMG but no sucess

    I am trying to make a little complicated (for me) MRTG graphic and I

    The problem is that if I use Factor the counting besides the 
graphics is ok (it shows the memory of one of my servers in Mb), if I 
remove Factor it shows in kb (this is wrong, the server has 512 Mb of

'did not eval into defined data' when querying explicit OIDs

Hello-
Thanks Tobias and all for your software and your effort supporting the
community.

I have a running configuration to monitor interface activity on a Cisco IOS
router.  No problems with the initials setup.  I'm adding configuration to
MRTG to monitor IOS Firewall activity, using the new Cisco Unified Firewall
MIB which became available in 12.4(6)T software in February:

I don't get any values for the two OIDs I'm trying to monitor, Active
Sessions and Half-Open Sessions.  Instead, the log indicates the OIDs 'did
not eval into defined data'.  I've used the iReasoning MIB Browser to verify
that the values in the OIDs change, and as mentioned, interface counters are
functioning well in mrtg.

Do I need to load the MIB if I specify the OID?  I can reply with a link to
the MIB itself if you'll need it.

Help will be appreciated, I've been unable to determine what's causing the
'did not eval' message.  Thanks.
